Hi! Need mod recommendation...
First off: Amazing game! I've been looking for a game like this for a looong time.

But are there any mods that make the game more... roguelike-like? I've done well over a dozen playthroughs and while it's great fun, I do sometimes feel a little bit bored sleepwalking through the first 3 sectors, only to be doomed to failure because the RNG gods decide I should fight lvl 3 shields with nothing but a mini beam and a peashooter of a laser.

Would be nice to see harder ships more spread throughout all sectors. It'd feel a little bit more realistic too instead of every ship in the galaxy arbitrarily deciding to upgrade all of their equipment every time you happen to jump to a new sector! If it means randomly being killed because a sector 5 ship shows up at the beginning, so much the better!

Unfortunately, this game seems to be a bit of trial and error.

I've found that focusing on weapon proliferation is best with upgrades to shields and weapons as nessecary (cloak and teleport too if you plan on using them).

I'd suspect that your complaint for random generation is intential. It forces the player to choose between the potential of upgrading and risk of the fleet catching up.

Can you be more specific with "rogue-like"?
