The best way to play Co-op is with no routers attached, there is a major problem with the Ports for GRFS, we have used no routers and the game runs fine, few bugs, few crashes after 5-6hours of fun.

Thanks, I have no routers. Can you only play co-op campaign with your uplay friends? Other than that, it's not possible, right?

uplay is bugged so your best bet is to add friends in game

Is there a way to work around a router to play this?

Remove the router >< I cant find any way to play around this, even DMZ does not work.
Opening Ports does not work, DMZ does not work, Disable Firewall does not work, atleas for me and my friend. Without a router and just connected to the modem works perfect.
Sorry I cant be any more help.

See my post above regarding port forwarding. Many high end routers will re-write outgoing ports for security. You need to disable this feature on your router either for your entire LAN, or at least the IP of the machine you are playing from. The option should be "outbound nat", or "advanced outbound nat", or something similar. If you can not find anything, search the net for your router model and "port rewriting" or "port remapping". Took me over a month to figure this out. Finally got it working, and can play all online modes now, including coop campaign, guerrilla, adversarial, etc. This game is much more fun when it works!!! Note: port forwarding must still be in place as well.

Things like this are the reason PC gaming will be extinct within 10 years.... I feel the only games that even work anymore are those dumb League of Legends games, Call of Duty, and Battlefield... everything else is a sloppy console port with no thought given to Private matchmaking. I cant play any of these coop games like Conviction, Ghost Recon or anything because of this ♥♥♥♥.

Damn I'm extremely sorry for the fact, that I replying to so old post, found it while lurking for solution to my coop-problem.
But anyway, PC gaming will be well and fine next 10 years, thank you, majority of all games are playing nice and fine, especially if the run via Steam. The games you mentioned, that got problems - all of them from Ubisoft and it's crappy U-Play. There is the problem. Their gaming will be extinct if they don't fix their net-code. Other PC games are fine, console port or not.
