Game Crash
Hey guys,
I just started up LOTRO a bit ago, and everytime I hit Enter Middle Earth, it crashes on the loading screen. Is anyone else having this problem?

I am having the same problem and never had this before! Please steam what is going on? I l get logged in to my server and see my character but it crashes there. I CANNOT enter middle earth. It is such a hard crash that even trying to get out by alt control delete is a struggle to shut the program down. I have had no problem until the last forced update. It is good to know I am not the only person having problems. I am new to steam so do not know who to report this problem on steam too If you get an answer CAP Cadet please let me know here and others also. Please if you know how to report this report it please. I am just a premium member but want to become a VIP member and was going to do it today.

I think I discovered the problem. I did a Windows update (not upgrade), last night which may have been the issue. I restored my computer to before the update and it worked fine. Hope this helps.

These issues are problems with the Turbine Client.
Please visit "forums.lotro.com" and scroll down until you get to the Techincal Support section.

Thank You Valamar I hope others are complaining on the forum do you know if they are? Cap Cadet I am glad you found the answer but I hope it is not the new windows update because I do not want to do a restore on my computer.

One does not simply log into Midle Earth!

The server was already chosen where my character left off. I could view my character when I clicked on entering middle earth nothing happened. I realized the game crashed and did alt control delete but had a struggle getting off the LOTR screen. I have just tried to play vanguard and something with Sony''s new update has really messed up my logging in. I can see my character and the character is chosen and the server but when I hit play nothing is happening! I am a paid member that is not a happy member right now. 2 of Sony's games and they are not working since last launch update yesterday. Any suggestions anyone? I have Win 7 64 bit.

@snsherryah: All I was thinking was, I got a new security update for Windows. As soon as I restored my computer (you could also uninstal the update I think), the game worked. I had also had some other games that were crashing before I even played LOTRO.
@MaxedPain: Yes One Does!!!

Grrr .....I am sorry you are having problems also this is really weird I never had a problem before with LOTR. I have had no problem with the examining data at this time but even after removing the same security update from Windows like Cadet said for my Win 7 64 crash boom bang when the character screen is being viewed. I hope you do not have the same problem. When I say crash I mean freezes up. I remember I did have a problem like yours before and used a registry cleaner and tried again. You may want to try a registry cleaner and try again.

I've had the same problem, but I've resolved it before. Here's how:
1. Right-click on the LOTRO name under Library.
2. Select Properties at the bottom of the appearing menu.
3. Go under Local Files.
4. Click on Verify Integrity of Game Cache.
If there are any missing core game files, Steam will redownload those files automatically. Seriously, I should just somehow post a big red banner somewhere on this Game Hub withy these steps!

WHOO HOOO! Hobbit I admit I never hugged a Hobbit before but sending you a virtual hug! I did as you said above and when I verified integrity of game cache 22 files were missing! Steam is fixing and downloading it now. Thank You now I hope this means I can get back into middle earth again. You need to make this a stickie I will remember this the next time my game crashes. Do you play everquest 2 by any chance I am having a problem maybe you know the answer too. :)

Glad you got your problem resolved, snsherryah. I'll see you in Middle Earth and have a merry Christmas.

same to you CAP Cadet! I do not know what happened but it is a long download from steam an steam crawls when it comes to downloading. I purchased the standard game so I hope they are not downloading it again. Steam said it was missing 22 files.
