Sonic & All-Stars Racing Transformed

Cheaters are going to ruin the online aspect of this game.
I've played online several times and a select few regular players (no names mentioned but I know you're reading this) are, without doubt, cheating. Be it from having unlimited weapons, weapon invulnerability, unlimited boost or any other such cheat - I don't care; it's CHEATING.

There's no fun in playing online against you sad fools and until VAC is installed then not only will I stop playing but you'll also ruin any such potential appeal to others that may be interested in buying the game because word is already out about cheaters. I can't even feel pity for you sorry, little men.

Such a shame for such a great game.

It happens on all games these days. Heck, it even happens in Mario Kart Wii. It is a shame indeed that people feel the need to cheat, though I have been lucky to only meet 2 hackers when playing online.

VAC is gonna be added at some point. Hold tight. :)

Though a trainer came out two days after the game's release, I'm also surprised that I've only encountered two hackers, albeit one of them, I've encountered multiple times (As with the original poster, I'm not saying any names because you know who you are).

I am not surprised, however, that a PC game would have cheaters of all kinds playing it, not necessarily limited to hackers. A lot of PC games with crappy or no anti-cheat support; and/or glitches that break the game are guaranteed to have hackers and/or proud glitchers. (I'm looking at you, GunZ: The Duel)

I'm going tell you what my former computer teacher once told me: the number one reason why people cheat in any game has nothing to do with winning; it is simply to make you angry. It just comes to show that hackers don't do what they do for personal gain; they just want to give you a reason to stop playing the game. Same goes for every other hackable game. With that being said, you can't let cheaters of any kind stop you from enjoying the game. Threads like this may let people know what's going on with this game, but at the same time, it lets your hacker know that he/she has made an impact on your time with this game, and said hacker is probably laughing at you as we speak.

What ruins this game, is the terrible network, and the laggers. It always amazes me how the ones with the, quote - bad - unquote connections, are the ones who are untouched and win constantly... riiight

The developers have already addressed this problem - several times. They aren't going to worry about it until bigger problems have been fixed.

I wouldn't say constantly, but I know what you're talking about.

I am already very well aware of this. However, this is a forum of discussion about the game, hence the fact I wished to mention my frustrations about cheating by online players. Hell, just imagine if no-one mentioned this; would these issues ever be addressed by the developers?

First off, the subject of hackers and cheaters has caused major arguments in the community in the recent past. It's really not a good subject to bring up.

Anyway, I do think SUMO Digital would have noticed eventually, we just brought it to their attention before it became a noticeable problem.

The only 'major arguments' I've read of here is from people accusing one another of cheating. I believe that it is a good subject to be brought up. Why do I believe so? Because it's a problem that is not only making me not play online but I know three people in real life that won't buy the game for this very reason. Sometimes a different opinion can be useful.

Which escalated into all-out flame wars. Not everyone is this mature.

Point taken, however I've lost count on how many times the subject has been brought up only to end with the same conclusion that hackers happen, the game will be getting a VAC feature eventually, and that until then we're just going to have to deal with it.

After the INTZ is fixed, i'd say online is Big problems. The obvious cheap cash in dlc joke will happen before fixing the game online i bet though.
I hate Mario Kart, and i would have never touched this game if Sonic characters were not the main roster, that's the only reason why i play it.
Network errors, laggers advantage to winning, crap lobby connecting system, barely bumped and flying off the map, then the people who do it on purpose, pointless boost start with bonus chance, crap starting grid determination, rediculous points system, 2nd place allstars stealing your win, oh yeah and freezing (dropping from 1st to 5th without seeing it happen got to love that)... yeah this game is GREAT

You only play this game because of the Sonic characters? That's sad.

You have a problem with my answer?
And yeah, you're right.. i play it because i love when i get network popups, watching cars lag to the lead, and float above the track. i love waiting 5min for a lobby connect. I love being bumped and flipping in the air 180 and losing 5 positions. I love being the only person who doesnt get a bonus chance and starts first to lose it before up to speed. i love leading 2.5 laps, and then 2nd place allstar steals it. I love being 1st or 2nd, the game freezes, and like magic i'm 8th! I love winning 5 races in a row to gain 13 points, and one of the above things happen to lose 100.
WHO would not have tons of fun with a game with all that action???

It is. My problem is with cheating, hence the topic title. If I had a complaint about something else in the game then I'd either contribute to the relevant topic or start a new one. I started this one because the others I've read turned into really rather unpleasant and childish flame wars. How do I deal with my complaint about online cheating? By not playing online until it's sorted.

One thing I don't understand with people that continually whine about any game (and I always hear their voice in an annoying, male, adolescent "the whole world's against me!" type of tone) is that why do they keep playing it they're prepared to keep getting upset about it?

Some people are idiots.

While, depending on who you ask, I haven't gotten to the whining point, i'll say this: sometimes to enjoy great games, you have to be prepared to deal with people and their problems/faults/whatever. I've played countless games that have left me with a sour taste afterward only because the players suck. There are many cases where I don't agree with how people treat others and i'll often try to defend people due to a percieved elitism I have after playing so many more competitive games and MMOs. That doesn't stop me from playing the game and enjoying it though. Just because someone rubs me the wrong way online doesn't mean I'm going to hate the game because of it.

Case in point, and I mean no offense by this, I have 400 hours in Super Monday Night Combat, which is a game that's the players are so horribly unforgiving to low skill levels that having one bad game gets you ♥♥♥♥♥ed out like you wouldn't believe. Does that stop me from playing, no. Neither did the constant loss after loss, I love the game and support it.

I realize that doesn't nessecarily pertain to cheating; cheating is a factor though and cheating ♥♥♥♥es me off as much as the rest of everyone around here (save for the cheaters themselves), but i'm not gonna let a couple of cheaters stop me from playing a great game.

Perhaps the "whining" aspect is just their way of coping with their frustrations. I know it's annoying, and I don't want to hear it too, but maybe it's just a way of releasing that upset feeling. Just a way to reduce the specific stress induced by whatever is frustrating them.
