X360 Controller broblem in big picture
I just recent updated to windows 7 and started playing.

But every time i enter an online or offline race my wireless controller stops responding the problem won't occur before the race and i have to force quit the game but problem still remains.

Does the game say a controller disconnected or does it just not register anymore?
Does it only happen on this game or does it happen with other games too?

(Just trying to narrow down what the problem could be.)

Does Big Picture still respond to the controller normally? Do other games respond to it?

Yeah everithing else works just fine i can press the home button and the controller works ok but not in game it all buttons except the home one won't work just after i press A right before the race.

Just to start, I'd say to recheck the files for the game and reset your controller settings from the Configuration app from scratch.
Anything else will require someone with a bit more knowledge than myself to instruct. :/

I've got a similar problem where the controller will disconnect randomly but the bigger issue for me is the accelerate button will stop working while the rest of the buttons continue to work fine making it impossible to win a race when this occurs online or during hard+ difficulties.

Are both of you using the official XBox 360 wireless controller? For the OP, does starting the game in normal mode (not Big Picture) fix the problem?

I'm using the razer xbox controller

If that's the case, it must be something at the hardware+driver level, not the game.

Try everything. Clean install of controller software and drivers. Fresh batteries. Check the response in the device properties. Keep an eye on the lights on the controller for flashing.

I have a wired xbox 360 controller and I get disconnects now. It never happened before. I thought my wired controller was busted; so I bought a new one. It seems to work in the menus and everything is good, then once the race starts it happens. The new controller also disconnects and it doesn't happen in any other game. I thought maybe it was my generic usb hub, but I get the same problem if I plug it into the back as well.

I also use a wired xbox controller, official stuff by the way, and it works great, hasn't malfunctioned for a single match.

I am having the same problem, but only in Big Picture mode. I've been playing the game fine for a few days using the Microsoft wireless 360 pad through my desktop.

Today I entered Big Picture and launched the game through there. The pad controls the Big Picture mode perfectly fine, and it controls the game's menu perfectly fine, but whenever I am in a race (and not paused) it disconnects, it turns off, and the game says it has lost connection. I can immediately turn it back on and navigate the menus just fine, but as soon as I resume the race, the same thing happens in 1-2 seconds.

The controller works perfectly fine in all other games, and even when I launch the game through the desktop version of Steam.

This might sound strange, but do you have an NVidia card or an AMD card?
