You guys show totally talk to Sega about getting the Shenmue franchise license and make Shenmue 3 with some input from Yu Suzuki. I really think you would make a great game :D
Every so often I suggest we should discuss Shenmue 3 with SEGA. I usually get a day off given to me on those days :)

I play 1 and 2 atleast 2 times a year. Got my Dreamcast hooked up with a VGA box to my monitor right now. Its a crime that 3 has not been made. I've waited 12 years and I'll continue to wait :P Thanks for the reply!
I think this is fair. We care that players enjoy the game and that it works as expected :P

I know country comes into the problem but I've spoken to other Australians and they don't experience this as much as I do. I have also tried switching regions and rebooting my router multiple times.
His pc is running a little slow i guess, its a laptop. A Decent one but not some super gaming grade machine.
We have tried using characters with mods to give them the smae stats.
we line up and both hit accelerate (on a keyboard to rule out any controller variable speed issues) and i pull away from him.
We have also done it just holding accelerate and waiting for it to say go. same result
Not steering or using any boosts. just holding accelerate.
(sorry if the next bit sounds hostile i could not think how i would word it better)
This shouldnt happen
I thought we left behind games running at different speeds when we stopped relying on the system clock to be the game speed (haha games that had a speed slider to control how fast they ran).
can i have some adive on this.?
(his settings are all on lowest btw)
I was thinking could network problems be related to steam as this is steamworks game? I remember OMD2 having similar problems and still having minor ones this day. That rage when over 1h of work goes down the sink.
The physics and handling always run at 60 fps regardless of the rendering, so speed wise, unless the game is rendering so slowly it's unplayable (sub 10fps) this side of it shouldn't be an issue.
I'd double check the controller though. If it's still connected the game will still listen to it, especially if it's been used to pass the 'Press Start' screen. Remove it completely and try using the keyboard (thought note, we don't apply instant acceleration via the keys, there is a short ramp).
The other side is it's quite hard to do like for like as every character is different, so side by side tests can mislead. Plus if you're playing online, there is latency even with fast connections so what you see on each other screens can be slightly different anyway.
If this doesn't seem to help, let me know the specs of the laptop. I can talk to the code guys to see if they suggest any ideas.
A 300KB upload should be fine - we generally aim for a 64KB limit, anything less than that though and it will get dicey. The other side of it is who you are joining. If the Host (top player in the lobby list) is on a slow connection this will affect the game for everyone.
I'd try a Custom game with some friends so you'll have a better idea of connection speed between you and see if still happens. We did specifically test for this though when we had the Beta Thread open and even using a very slow online connection, it's not something we managed to reproduce.

Either that or get the host to quit and rejoin, everyone shuffles up one.

When you launch the game? That's unusual. What spec is your computer...?

I use an AMD Athlon 3100 radeon series graphics card, so I believe from reading the "If you are having problems..." post that my issue is the INTZ deal (I have no idea what that stands for. XD), but I am unsure. I'd post all those computer gaming specs of my computer, but I am an idiot and my Vista(32-bit Windows) Device Manager is pretty vague.
I checked it on Canyorunit.com(As per SEGA's website that links to the Steam PC version), and I passed the minimum settings, and am about right in the middle of min and rec.
