Logging in....
So, I have to be logged into Steam to start the launcher, then I have to log into the launcher to start the game. FINALLY, I have to log into the game to actually play? Wtf? It's a F2P MMO not the Pentagon. A little excessive maybe?

The ♥♥♥♥ you talking 'bout?
1. Steam loggin is a Duh, for ANY steamgame.
2. Mabinogi is a game owned by Nexon corp., whom has their own loggin servers in Korea, where the game ORIGINATED from.
3. Once you've logged into steam, and into your nexon account (Cut one step out, and only use nexon at http://Mabinogi.nexon.net ) You only need to set a secondary password for protective measures, and you're in the game.

I'm surprised you're ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ that there IS security measures. it's like you WANT to get hacked!

Here's how it works. I downloaded the game, I'm logged into Steam, so yeah I understand that's a given. Then I run the game I have to log in with my email and pass and then the launcher runs. Cool as well, plenty of MMO's on Steam have that. Then I actually start the game and it takes me to ANOTHER log in screen in game asking for my ID and password. As for getting hacked, it's a F2P MMO. I don't spend money on these things so if someone is going to waste time and energy hacking me, more power to them. If your life has hit a point where you feel the need to hack a F2P MMO account because that's the only way you find joy then you need the account more than me :p

No, you see, the thing is, this isn't some small cutesy mmo where you put 2 hours into it and have fun doing it. This is a game where you work your damn ass off to make your ultimate fantasy character.

6 years I've played now, I'm only level 2.3k, and I have achieved every single combat skill the Elven race can learn in the game, and mastered 2 talents. I've participated in events and gotten things you won't ever have the chance to get again. I've beasted through all 16 generations, and beaten the saga and the 3 episodes of saga 2. this isn't just a game, it's damn near a life project- a reflection on how dedication and time makes something so beautiful...

Now, for your "Login" issue? I don't know what the hell you dun'♥♥♥'d on, but once you put in the email and password on the popup window, it should ONLY ask you for your Secondary password on the game's actual startup. So I'd verify your files. It means that your steamclient isn't connecting to nexon's login server.

Again, I've played this game for 6. damn. years. Don't think you can come in here, and tell me it's a small rinkydink game that shouldn't have so much protection on the Millions and Millions of gold (Not to mention possible thousand or so the account could be worth in real $) when you have no idea how much value a PROPER player puts into their character. Mabinogi, it's like buying a house- Cheap and a good idea at first, Ballwrenching and Agonizing in the middle, and humbling and ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ jawdropping in the end.

I FINALLY got into the game and here is my rebuttal to your "6 years of play argument." (Not trying to be hateful, I understand the dedication to gaming.)

I didn't have to verify my files, I was actually trying to show a friend the ridiclous login requirements and it went to what you were talking about, the secondary password. So, that's cool, I'll admit I was wrong there but still. That's a lot of security for an online game. I stand by that argument, this isn't EVE or Second Life or Project Entropia (can't remember what they call it now). It's still a F2P MMO. Like I said, I'm not trying to be hateful but it just seems silly to hack an account in a game like this when there are many more games out there that would be much more worth it. Not to mention, if you're willing to commit a FELONY to hack an account in this game, or any other for that matter, your priorities in life are ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ warped.

Now, on to my issues with the game itself. It's a GREAT concept and I'm pretty sure it's a fantastic game but the technical issues I'm having are breaking it for me and for a 10 year old game the specs shouldn't be an issue at all. I'm going to paste my specs here and you tell me if I should have a problem running this.

Processor: AMD FX-6300 Six- Core@3.50GHz
RAM: 12GB
Graphics Card: NVIDIA GeForce GTX 660

There are very few games I CAN'T run and here are the issues I'm having with Mabinogi:

-Unless I'm running the game at 1024x768 any resolution I pick puts two giant black bars on either side making the actual play window a very small area. This includes using widescreen/fullscreen/any other res.

-Even when I have I higher resolution picked everything looks jagged, the font is damn near unreadable, and no matter what I pick I have constant graphic artifacts, screen flicker etc.

-Every time I go to the options menu the screen goes black for like five seconds before coming back with the menu up. I know, this is a stupid thing but damn is it irritating.

- My download speeds top out at about 4.1 Mbps and this game STILL lags. I made sure to start on a low population server, nothing is running in the background, I'm hardwired not wirless etc.

-The lag isn't always network side (rubberbanding). There were multiple times in my short play time that it was clearly graphics lagging(stuttering).

Now, with all that said I AM going to give this game a try for a while. Like I said I LOVE the concept of the classless type system. Still trying to figure out why I can play as either a toon or a mount(that's ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ weird but I'll figure it out later lol) and it seems that the community, as evidence by Herostar's remarks is very dedicated and there's obviously something special about it to keep someone playing for 6 years.

Allright, now while I admit, I got defensive last time, I can see your troubles, and your points from an equal perspective.

What I recommend is to run the game in a WINDOWED mode. That allows you to re-shape the window to any size you want, and, not to mention, lets you have a PROPER size on things. As you said, this game is 10 years old, Fullscreen on it is compairable to MSDOS Doom quality. Windowed mode looks much better, for some reason.
here are MY pc Specs, and I run the game so well I still stop and appreciate the beauty:

Windows 8 (64 bit)
Driver: NVIDIA GeForce GT 630
RAM: 8149
Physical & Logical processors: 4

I can already tell you, Your stuff is better xD

As for the internet, I don't know my speed offhand. but I know it can be a laggy game for quite a few...
