snipers and missle boats need a nerf, ive lost to much to my own team just farmign kills at range rather than playing the objective.
Kazzamkablam 3/mar/2013 às 3:09
My biggest peeve about the game atm, missile boats and snipers in their current state being anti-fun.
Koresawa 3/mar/2013 às 5:14
doesn't need a nerf since its not powerfull enough to win the game, like one mentioned above.

use your brain.

I thought how it was interesting that while we get 0 to 5 kills this guy was sitting on the edge of the map with 15+. Fair? I dunno. Maybe if we were all snipers that would change the dynamic of the game. Kind where it will head if everyone sees they can sit back and pop off the little guys.

70% of my deaths have been to frigates just parked all the way across the map launching torpedoes which for some reason can path AROUND large asteroids. 20% are the sniper mode I can't remember the name of right now. 10% are from actual close-up combat.

The torpedoes, more than anything, need a heavy nerf. I don't mind the long range lasers (so long as they're not hitscan), but seriously, smart auto-pathing torpedoes which do MASSIVE AoE damage even if you can get them to explode behind an object (beacon for example) are ridiculous.

Lol i look at those guys an go wooo free kills lol cloak rush i got 3 of them ever game solo.
They easy to take down an raming them are fun seeing as i take alot less damage for doing it.

DAOQAce those auto pathing torpedos you speak of auto path because the guy who launches them has to pilot the missle. His ship is sitting there unattended while he flies the missle to you. So, now you know something. Go kill him while he is just sitting there.
DrunkSpiderman 3/mar/2013 às 8:27
Then if you manage to get up close and do some dmg the other 4 gunboats take you out in 5 sec flat
[Reaper}Crimson 3/mar/2013 às 8:29
Not if you use there ally as a shield lol. I also take 40% less from the expltions. hit heals to shield an armour an recloak then go kill the next guy i repeat till they all dead lol.

Well, that is some very valuable information.

I'd never know this because I picked Federation. Game was completely lying when it said it didn't affect anything but your character's background (kind of like how it calls itself an MMO!).

We can't shoot down the missiles, can we? I've tried to a few times, but it's yet to work.

Yeah, I've gone and cloak killed a few, but 50% of the time I've died on the way there or died during the fight because for some reason some of them just had absurd firepower.

Fed frigates are the most underpowered frigates in the game, so that's probably why all we're seeing is missles and snipers. I honestly have no idea how this massive imbalance made it past internal testing, assuming they even did any.

Personally I think they should go to "move and snipe" play for snipe Frigates. Reduce the armour on snipe frigates as well.

Once a shot has been taken, flag the LKP (Last Known Position) for the sniper. If you want to snipe, and you're good at it, you should have to work for it.

Moving to a "move and shoot" set up is a simple solution that'd balance out snipers and make sniping a more involved and active role.

There is a big red light when a sniper fires a shot. Also at Tier 2 there are so many asteroids and obstacles if you're constantly getting sniped/bombed there then well there is no hope for you. Finally warpgates and warp capable interceptors can demolish the campy ships in seconds

Two problems:
1 - It's not like sniping in real life. This method would work if you shot, got the kill, and then moved, but snipers aren't 1 shot machines. There is a difference between sniping being over powered and watching full mkIII loadouts taking out people that just started up that tier.

2 - Snipers are slow. Once they fire that shot and everyone knows where you're at, a warp fighter will instandly warp in and drop a loadout and boom, no more sniper.

The counters for snipers are already in the game. Sometimes all I do in a match is warp around taking them out. I suppose the downside is that at the lower tiers, that isn't "flashy" like sniping is, but really, the balance is there. You just have to either have teammates, or yourself, be willing to fuffill that role.

Also, as some have already stated, terrain can significanly hamper snipers as well.

missile boats are easily evaded with flares, the snipers are a pain in the ♥♥♥ though, but you can always break the line of sight.
