NOT AN MMO
False advertizing on behalf of Steam. Good job, Valve. Do you not check your products before you list it on Steam? Do you want amother WarZ b/s situation?

Seems pretty MMO to me, Online, player run guilds, party system./
The one lobby has all the players connected and chatting with eachother when outside of missions, and has persistant rankings that change without your presence..

Are you sure you wernt expecting an MMORPG? this isnt an MMO like WoW, but it is still an MMO

Do you even know what mmo stands for? MASSIVELY MULTIPLAYER online. Meaning 1000+ players in one world/map. EVE online is an mmo, Planetside 2 is an mmo. This is not.

this is in beta and it is very new, so you cant really say its not a mmo. btw when you are looking for a game it says that there are over 2000 other poepl play atm. so going by your logic, since there are 100+ people on the one server than this is a mmo
Mad Grenadier 2013年3月2日 21時23分
How is planetside an MMO then by your standards, its not even close to 1000+ in one world map
Dr0dW 2013年3月2日 21時26分
planet side can have up to 6000 people on at the one time. you may just be on a low population server
Mad Grenadier 2013年3月2日 21時29分
An MMO is a game that lets people compete/cooperate at a large scale, and while individual battles are smaller the fact that it has a community hub like I said with guilds and larger organized competitive groups.

The same idea happened for the original Guild Wars with many people in the hubs which werent just one server, and smaller instanced areas.

So before you jump down my throat Rum calm your ♥♥♥♥

It is, even you've never seen 1000 players at once, the game is capable of handling that many players in one continent/map.

agreed, not a MMO. Was expecting (hoping) for something like Eve but got WOT in space

I'm pretty calm, the caps are just for emphasis. I'm just trying to say that a 12v12 game with a public chat room and a group system is hardly an mmo. Going by your logic, BO2 , starcraft = mmo?
KillSlim 2013年3月2日 21時52分
@Rum Cake my opinion spot on. Simply having groups (Which you have to pay for lol, even WoT isn't that bad) and a chat window in instanced 12 v 12 battles, it simply isn't an MMO.
Mad Grenadier 2013年3月2日 21時57分
Sorry, I took the "do you even know" followed by caps as a rage type.

I'd have no problem with calling SC2 an MMO because of how its setup, Black ops would be a bit more of a stretch because outside of the lobbies there is no general population interaction. (I may be wrong, last CoD I played was the first modern warfare)

Id call anything with an overarching player communication outside of lobbies to be to some degree an MMO. Its one of those things that with the internet so tied to everything its going to strain that line that had been drawn before.

I dont feel that everything needs to happen as one giant thing to be called an MMO
Mad Grenadier 2013年3月2日 21時58分
I can agree there are definitly better examples of MMOs out there, but to completly shut it out of the group I would say is wrong
Agr 2013年3月2日 22時11分
MMO or not MMO who cares? It is fun game, and it is free. You can try or don't - it is just your decision.
KillSlim 2013年3月2日 22時11分
"Lots of people play it" Doesn't mean MMO. By that logic Star Conflict is an MMO in regards to the fact that you can simply talk to lots of people in chat. 12 v 12 isn't very massive and there isn't any open world nor any real player interaction outside group making.
