Loyalty changes
I have to put this game on hold after the recent update to loyalty.
I can not recommend that anyone start playing this game in its current state.

You will either need to pay considerable amounts of cash to be competative or grind 10x longer to unlock the upgraded items than the people you are playing against, who unlocked their items under a much more reasonable system.

Yeah, it's absolute ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥. The game went from "play to have fun whenever you pay or not" to "pay to win" overnight. This is ridiculous.

Worst thing, this afects only the new players. The veterans of the game who have everything leveled to their desire will not be affected and be able to buy and equip modules that are severely more powerful than the baseline ones.

Loyalty changes is very controversial =/ But most likely this is not final commit and loyalty system will be improved in next patches

They upped loyalty for contracts and reduced cooldowns in today's update. Might have to reload Steam.

Also, hey guess what? It's a beta! Sometimes if you gripe enough (where they can hear you), things change.

In addition to what Ophidian said, the Error (one of the official forum moderators) has reported that a new contract system is in the works that will help balance out this wrinkle in the game. Today's update is just the beginning, no worries guys

I hope they tweak it, because as it is, it screws you royally if you bought any of the DLC

update: the propsed changes to address the loyalty system are trivial compared to the huge nerf to progression. After playing for about 15 minutes I am now blocked from increasing my standing for 18 hours.

Also, contracts (the key element of progression) are tied to particular game modes for which you have no control in the queue (ie. you need to complete objectives in game mode X to progress but you are forced to que for X, Y, and Z).

The shift to loyalty/contracts-driven rank progression was badly thought out imho. I saw this change, laughed, and stopped playing. Sometimes I check back to see if they realized their mistake but it seems they are going to stay their course. Really too bad, seeing ~700 people online now down from the 4.5k at launch.
