I do agree that only the Freshman year feels quite lacking, especially if you wish to persue a love interest, like I've done with Ellen. Based off of the forums though, I suspect this to still be a work in progress, despite the seemingly finished setup? Little unclear on that.

Anywhome. I would not mind buying a part 2 if it included the rest of the other years. Partly because it felt very lacking in relationship contact in terms of love interest with my desired choice specifically. Most of my game revolved around getting my spells and surviving the easy dungeons since passed on my story.

Edit - Disregard my commentary of the achievements if read. There was simply a rather huge delay after end game before they showed on my steam account.

It was always meant to end at the end of freshman year, actually. Sophomore year and beyond is for the fanfic authors!

As it stands now, it's approximately 150,000 words, and there are three major branches at the end beyond which an awful lot of content CAN'T be shared. From my perspective: The story of Mary as a powerless fugitive is a completely different type of *game* from Snake!Mary dating Trouble, and Snake!Mary can't share that much content with Horse!Mary. Even Horse!Mary is going to be having a rather different story depending on her path. To cover all the paths through Sophomore Year at the same level of detail as the first game would give us a tome around half a million words to write. Not gonna happen. Slashing a hypothetical Sophomore Year down to manageable size would require vigorously pruning the paths and making the story shallower - which is exactly the opposite of what most of the people who want a continuation are hoping for.

VERY early in planning (this was at the plot outline and not-entirely-sure-whether-or-not-we're-doing this stage), we were undecided as to whether to do a multi-Hall freshman year or not; we decided 'not' because it would have taken forever to write, been daunting even to play, and the flavour of the different halls is different enough that an awful lot of players wouldn't be interested in playing them all.

I'd pay anything up to $100 for a continuation, if you need to spend more time writing it without it becoming more shallow

seriously, good quality stories (especially involving shoujo ai) are so very rare, i dropped everything i was doing and played through the entire game three times the first time i touched it. if you make it, i will pay for it haha. maybe some other people feel the same

I agree. I played it through quite a number of times also because I really like how this story is written out and that there was an option for Shoujo Ai paths.

I agree with OP also. It would be nice to see what happens in the 2nd year, but I guess it is only a dream. DX

Don't get me wrong, this is a very good game, but it is still a niche product, so I just seriously doubt that enough people would be willing to pay more than 40€ for a continuation, and that is already a rather favorable estimate.

Don't worry, I'm not making plans based on the idea of a few people paying through the nose. :)

True, I was first annoyed how a lot of the guy characters looked like females because of their hairstyles. @_@ But I understand that was because of lack of artists I assume so it does needs more attention work with it.

I won't disagree. You have a point that not many people would pay about $50 (40 euros) for a continuation. It's not that big of a game considering it's only about 3 hours of a 1st playthrough. Let's just say that I'm much more likely to buy what they have to offer next.

I wonder how the next one will be. =)

I would say I disagree with the sentiment that it would be impossible to do. To make the sophmore year what I would do, is Damien goes either way to fading away or some other method. If you married the professor you are forced to go through a divorce. For the room mates, have the one that was constantly getting sick end up in the hospital, for Ellen either family problems just get way worse or her science curiousity gets her taken away to a different school or program or something (could be a rescue mission)

Point being is you basically pull a mass effect, where the previous year has things affecting this year but have them very limited on what is actually affecting the year. Where you get things very detailed, but have possibilities open up for the player again.

I'd actually thought about what my First Mary would do come Senior year in regards to Freshman "Initiation". She'd probably be somewhat kind and tell her freshmeat to write her a love letter or recite "The Raven" in the gardens and when her freshthing complains about it, tell them about HER Freshman Initiation and how THAT turned out (It involved her losing her hard-won strength and her Sacred First Kiss)

Second Mary would outright refuse, if she wasn't banned from doing the Freshman Hazing because she didn't go through it. If she was forced to haze a freshman, she'd probably have her do something incredibly minor like fetch her a ball from the other side of the room or order her to attend all Red classes for Initiation Week and if they were a wildseed like her, actually DO what the Seniors are supposed to do and MENTOR her freshthing, like telling them about certain celebreations, why their parents won't ask them about Magic school and give hints about the exams ("Direct Violence is not always the answer." and "Detect Charm only works on objects, not scenery.")

As for subsequent years after Freshman Year, have a maxed school/stat only give you a minor boost over what a non-maxed school would. Maxed Freshman Black isn't that impressive to teachers of Sophmore Black, but it will earn you points for dedication

One improvement/expension I would like to see from the original: actual magical duels. It's boring to have dozens of different spells and not being able to use them!

The only thing that needs to be done is introduce one (or more) character(s) which you encounter during the game and that try to sabotage you/trick you/...

In order to be fair, you should be able to defeat the 'foe' with your current arsenal of spells. Creative spell casting/counter/... magic duels, that's what I like to see!
