Harry Potter in LEGO, what could you possible not like about this combination? In this game, you'll play through years 1 to 4 at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry during the time of the rise of Lord Voldemort. This was a huge undertaking by the development team given the excitement and anticipation for the game, and unfortunately I don't have many good things to say about the first installment.
You'll find yourself battling from Dudley's house, through the secret canals and dungeons of Hogwarts and all the way into the forbidden forrest. And for what you might ask? Simply to graduate from school, but it wasn't that hard when I went!
I genuinely feel that this game would be better suited to hardcore fans of the franchise, and I also genuinely feel that the development team didn't take this game seriously enough. The games mechanics are much like all the other LEGO games, and it is a successful business model so there's no arguments there. It does however lack unique mechanics, engrossment and immersion. Overall it does feel too much like too much of a kids game for kids.
With all of this said, I would still recomend it. It's charming, mindless, nothing unique and short-lived. If you're a huge fan of the franchise it's definitely worth the time. I wouldn't recommend it so much for those who aren't huge Harry Potter fans. So given you understand all of this, you're able to make your own judgements.
