I set the game to windows 7 compatibilty and finally recived this error upon the game crashing:
Runtime Error!
Program: D:\S
R6025
- pure vital function call
Will try to see if I can find a fix for this... but it's not looking good.
Edit:
Might have fixed it. Was able to get through Diagon Alley, the bank and a bit further in and no crashes yet.
Here's what I did, in the order I did it:
1. Run the "compatability troubleshooter" for LEGOHarryPotter executable which should set it to Windows 7 compatibility.
2. Verify integrity of the game on Steam. (this probably did nothing)
3. In the same folder as your LEGOHarryPotter executable, find the "redist" folder. Open vcredist_x86 and reinstall vcredist_x86
4. I downloaded and installed the latest version of Microsoft Visual C++ Redistributable for Visual Studio 2017, whatever that was.
I have no idea which of these steps actually fixed the crash, but I have a sneaking suspicion it was #3.
Edit in 2021: I'm trying to play this again and I'm not having any luck with my old fixes. It keeps crashing. :/
