Potential Linux/Mac/Other platform ports
I just emailed the developers regarding the game and it's current state on other platforms, this is the response I got.

Thanks for emailing, glad your loving the game so much! We are planning on doing a Linux (and Mac) port. We're currently busy fixing up some final things on the PC build before starting the port. As you mentioned the current one is built in XNA so the port will take some time and we can't say when the LInux version will ship just that it's something we really want to see happen.

We'd love to get it on a portable as well and are looking into possibilities, if/when we have concrete news we'll make an announcement!

Awesome! The recent support for gaming in linux just keeps getting better.
I was going to ask about a possible linux version, thanks for the info. Can't wait!
Any update on linux port? Would love to buy the game but it won't run under wine.
I love Jamestown and I'm eager to play this game.

After jumping a lot of hoops (clean wine profile with WINEARCH=win32, winetricks dotnet40 xna40 d3dx10) I've discovered that XNA 4 didn't like my video card; apparently the only XNA 4 profiles game writers can use are winphone-equivalent graphics or xbox-equivalent graphics.

Anyway, I'd love to see this ported.

Has there been any updates on this? I'd love if this would be available for play on the Mac. It's right up my alley.

+1 for Linux support. It's nice to see that they gave such a positive answer. I'm considering if I should buy it now in the summer sale or better wait until there's real support.

So... any words on Linux support?
Not addressing Linux specifically, but SpookyAndrew does seem to be working on the SDL/GL port: . A good portion of his time is spent gaming, but I won't judge :P

Yeah, i get this comment from Miguel too :) ... i tend to tab out of a game instead of shuting it down and this still racks up the time ...

As for the ports, these are a thing! When the C/SDL version is done the porting to Mac and Linux (and perhaps other >hint< - cant say more) become SO MUCH EASIER ...

So, I'm confused, how are the ports coming? is there an estimate as to when they might be finished?

There isn't any progress reports, or estimate. Spooky Andrew (one of the developers, and I would assume the coder) has simply said that it is being worked on, and that it is the primary focus of his working attention.

That being said, I hope it's soon. :)
