An unfortunate setback...
I've been wanting to play this game since I saw TotalBiscuit did a first impressions video on it, and have been waiting for a good time to buy it. Then, low and behold, I see it on sale during Halloween. I bought the game, and proceeded to install it. I started it up and suddenly got an error message. "could not find a Direct3D device that supports the XNA Framework HiDef profile. verify that a suitable graphics devise is installed." etc. There was more to the message, but it was more of the same. Well, one way or the other, It doesn't seem I'll get to play it tonight...

I'm in the same position :(

Your graphics cards are not supported by XNA 4.0. You will need to buy a new graphics card in order to run the game. You can also try updating your drivers, but that's hit and miss.

And it's "lo and behold" btw, "lo" being a shorthand for "look".

Wow it seems kinda funny that he needs a new graphics card to play a pixel style game. Not saying your wrong its just interesting that this game needs a newer card.

Thanks for the catch. Oddly enough, I had written lo the first time, but for some reason it looked wrong, and as I wasn't in the mood to double-check I just changed it to low.

Sadly, changing the graphics card on a laptop isn't the easiest thing...

It's not the game that requires it. It's XNA 4.0.

I know. But that's the only reliable way (that I know of) to fix it :(

Well... that really sucks. So what do you do when you buy a steam game that can't possibly run on your computer? Just suck it up and realize that I just wasted my money. I hate, HATE Intel graphics cards. F**k em.

This really ♥♥♥♥es me off.

Well you can play the game in a year or so when you buy a new computer :)

The developers are currently rewriting the game in C++/SDL, so you'll be able to run the game just fine.

@littleman794: Intel graphics cards are really good, the problem exists with XNA 4.0, since it has some weird system requirements (even if the game is pixely or has low quality graphics, you still need a good graphics card).

When exactly will this happen? I was looking forward to the game as well but have the same issue.
