Horrible controll system
This game is very pretty and extremely well made. I enjoy both the graphics and the music.
But I have to say about the controlls. They are horrible.
Not just horrible. They are beyond ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ by programming decision. I have no idea how a programmer can f* up the simplest of controll system.
There are two major flaws I want to point out to make my understanding:
1,) Combat: Yeah, it's bloody, yeah, it's badass, but the fusion of all the attack types to one button is impossible to handle, especially you need to react fast in later stages.
Kicking and hitting with the same button?! It's impossible to channel each attack type differently. For example if several enemies show up and you have to run up to them, I have to kick some away. Not possible if I run up to them because I do immediate dive attack and instead of kicking continiues hitting, the enemies can kill me in an instant.
When some enemy shows up behind me and I have to turn around, I can't hit them. My computer always kicks then.
Do you understand? You cannot fusion two different attack types to ONE BUTTON because it's overclusted. It's not making the game "hard" and "unforgiving", it's making the game impossible in the simplest aspects.
2,) Double jumping. Yes, I hate double jumping, especially in a 2D game. But this takes the cake. It is worst on wall running. The protagonist isn't fixated on the walls and I have to press a direction key to hold at it. But then I have to jump to another wall. One thing if I go to the opposite direction, it will be recognized as a jump, and when I press a jump button, it will immediatly activate the double jump, and I have to retry again, or worse, start from the checkpoint if I die. The problem with double jumping is the momentum. The momentum is not in this game, and quite frankly, makes the game more like luck based plattforming than challenging hit- and -miss. Besides that, the momentum of a jump after being hit while in air is painfully long. I cannot recounter that way and escape.
This game could have been a lot better, one of my gotyay, if the developers would have worked out the controlls more carefully and offered an easier handling.
So, to avoid a s*tstorm, I'm better off then.
