They Bleed Pixels

Y U no support controller?
First of all, I like the game alright, I'm not trying to bash the game, I like it. But, why is it that only 360 controllers are supported and not any other brand?
This game is near impossible to play using a keyboard. Don't even bother buying it if you dont own a 360 controller unless you enjoy hours of constantly dying in the same spots because you run past a ledge into a pool of spikes or over-shot a jump and face planted into a saw... F*** those witches and fighting them on those tiny platforms surrounded by spikes using the keyboard.
Since chapter 3 I'm dying 100 times each level. Picking up the pages became impossible with all the precision jumps it requires.

It would be nice if the game supported other controllers, besides the ones from xbox 360, is what I'm trying to say.

Sorry for the rant, I had to get that out of my chest, I feel a little better now :^)

What the Hell I just noticed this after plugging in my PS3 controller. It works for everything else I thought I messed something up with DS3 but I guess not

I've seen most games developed with XNA don't seem to support other controllers. Same thing happened with Braid.
Perhaps it's a limitation of that library, I wish it wasn't :)

They Bleed Pixels is damn near impossible without a controller I keep messing up my wall jumps cause I'm on a laptop the keyboard configuration is super inconvenient

Windows doesn't support the DS3 out of the box anyway, and neither do any other Windows games that support the 360 controller. (We'll set aside my experience that Windows doesn't automatically support the 360 wireless receiver either)

Go download MotionInJoy, and set it for 360 emulation. Then it will work fine. If you have a compatible Bluetooth adapter, you can even use the DS3 wirelessly.

You can use this controller emulator for now: http://code.google.com/p/x360ce/

(The movements seem to be binary though, so it should not make a technical difference if you use a keyboard or controller)

Use this video, http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8Zmt0e_Lh4Y
It disguises your PS3 controller as an X-Box 360 controller so you can play all the games with controller support,
The screen still says X-Box 360 buttons but you can use PS3

The game was written in XNA, a library created by Microsoft.
Do you really think they want you to use anything other than their over-priced controllers?

Game is perfectly playable on keyboard.

The reason people find keyboard suboptimal for games like this is simple: They only give the keyboard a few minutes chance then switch to a controller, it takes time to learn to use a keyboard properly, but once you do, a controller offers no viable benefit.

I've yet to encounter a single 2D platformer where keyboard wasn't a perfectly capable option.

I have to say, the D-Pad (not the sticks) of xbox 360 controllers is HORRIBLE. It's an afterthought, only suitable for switching guns in shooters and such. A professionally made D-Pad on a professionally made controller should NOT produce diagonals instead of straight lines, and the problem is exacerbated in tight, control-intensive 2d indie games.

It's a shame, with the XNA studio being such a great facilitator for creative minds, that it practically forces this accursed thing into the user's hands.

I'm also one of those people with the SNES button pattern hardwired into his brain (namely the placement of Y, X, B and A), so I'm guessing emulating an xbox controller would still feel a bit iffy. Good thing I'm okay with keyboard controls :S

I'm using a PS2 controller, binded to the keyboard with JoyToKey.

However, I doubt OP will find this info useful since he made the thread in May.

I was fine with keyboard, now I play it with controller and dont see any major difference.
