i totally agree with your analysis dude, california and the north east are bagged easy by the democrats

This is based on certain assumptions that there are areas of this country that will reliably vote Democrat and other areas that will reliably vote Republican. These are not baseless assumptions. I can predict who will win the 2012 election in California, Texas, Louisiana, and New York right now with 100% certainty and accuracy: Obama, Romney, Romney, and Obama.

Yes, to Spartan's comment Democrats always win California and the north east. Much like the south and the bread basket states will go for the Republicans. It always comes down to several swing states (Ohio, Florida, etc) to win the presidency today.

I wasn't really talking about the states. I was pointing out that the Democrat characters have better stats overall. Such as fund raising ability, stamina, etc.

It is based on fact, the Dems have amazing stamina. Ask Monica about Clinton's. . .

I actually disagree. I haven't won yet, but I am getting better at the game. I always play as a rightist and a Republican, and I play a dang good game. I actually had California a solid red until I slipped up and thought I could make "Coal Mining" a state issue. While I succeeded in making it rise from bottom to relevancy, I was very saddened that I couldn't win the state on novelty.

I almost always win the South. My first loss, I swept it. My second,Lousisiana and, I think North Carolina made the wrong choice.

On both times, I would have won if I had stolen California.

I'm more disappointed that there's no third parties (Libertarians, Green Party, Justice Party, etc) and hope the devs implement it as add-on content or if they decide to make a sequel in 2016 as well as making your own political party.
