We should be able to run as INDEPENDENTS
Or Libertarians or Greens for that matter as well.
But at the very least independents

Unfortunatly an Independent candidate, or one from one of the minor parties, will never win the US presidental election.

I guess they could have made a challange mode where you try and get as many votes as possible ("A Ross Perot Challange" maybe?). But then again, this is a game, not a serious politcal simulator, so would it matter if an independent winning would be impossible in real life?

It may be impossible as things stand currently, but as the two dominant parties seflishly work together to guide us towards a dystopia, it will become increasingly possible. I suspect it will be featured in The Political Machine 2063. :-)

2-3 player multiplayer would only make this game stronger.

It would actually be a lot harder than people realize to implement, the voter breakdown would be very uneven and extremely unrealistic. It's not as simple as adding the party because not all people who sit in the indepdent demographic right now vote 3rd party.

I have to disagree. Third parties land in the political spectrum just like the Democrats and the Republicans. The positions of the party will naturally connect to some people The Green party for example is something that would obviously connect to environmentalist minded people. So if pollution is a recongized issue and a hot topic this could be used to appeal to voters for their support and vote.

Any politcal based game that deals with elections has to do is simply make issues the core root of how people will vote. Then mix it in with a political bias rather than a party loyalty. So for example some are simply going to vote for the left or or right winged canidate no matter what. Much like Rick Scott whos company was behind the largest medicare fraud in all of history and yet despite this terrible blemish was still elected as governor of Florida, This is largely do to a sizeable amount of voters who refuse to vote with someone who leans farther on the other side of the spectrum even if their canidiate is a extremely poor choice in comparison.

t's not hard really, it's just likely a feature that the developers didn't bother with because most players wouldn't want to play as any other party. Plus the party position on this game isn't forced. Someone can make a candidate that is unqiue like a Republican canidiate that would fit into more of the Green party's posiitons and actually play to steal the Democrat votes by out left-winging them.

It wouldn't be harder then any other bit of code/feature that is already in the game. It's all just computer programming and game design. If you know how to do that you can do anything with the game.

Think it would be cool if they even had a option to have people run for primaries. So you could have a bunch of Democates for example all running against each other for the presidental canident spot. This would allow for even more then 3 player multiplayer.

Honestly, I expected an OTHER option where you could put a custom name in.

I'm trying now to run as a Libertarian in the Democrat party

I've made my own Libertarian Republican candidate, and I kick everyone's can with him..

But yeah I'd like to be able to run independent, LP, GP, etc.

Heck, running as a Constitution Party candidate playing as George Washington could be interesting..
