Direct Connect will work with this!

LogMeIn Hamachi

Use the ip's created from logmein hamachi, create your own network, invite other check players to it, add me on steam, lets play :D

How does it work exactly?
Brob Oct 11, 2012 @ 11:39pm
"Hamachi is a very simple and effective VPN which can be set up between
any 2 computers which can reach the Internet.

Essentially once you have the software installed, you can create an arbitrary VPN from PC #1 by providing a new name and a password.

Then you can connect to that VPN from PC #2 by providing the name of the VPN and the password.

Its that simple - you're now on the same virtual subnet and you can run
remote access software such as VNC or native Windows Remote Desktop etc."

Just creates another IP for you to direct connect to your partner.

OK, right. So, more to the point, making it work with Check vs. Mate. You create your own hamachi network. Then you run the game. Then your partner simply connects with the ip provoided by hamachi? No other steps involved?
Just want to be sure before I plunk down another $20 to gift the game to my dad.

Yup, when I play vs someone I generally have them go ahead and get LogMeInHamachi so they will have it and can spread the word, as well if they want you connecting to them or them connecting to you they have it. It works well cause you can create your own network and name it whatever you choose, invite your partner to the network and see the ip's immediately to use.

If you need any help with it let me know, or add me on steam. Others have set it up beside for me and it works perfectly for them.

Yeah, thanks for clearing this up - very helpful. One more clarification: it seems like it's possible for him to connect to me without having LogMeIn installed on his own computer, right? That's ideal.

Yeah it should work, just give him your LogMeIn Hamachi ip for him to punch in :)

So what you're saying is that this chess game has no built-in multiplayer support? No buy. Maybe if they make another one they won't make another dumb mistake like that.

It has multiplayer support, DirectX. Which is basic LAN. If you know your friend's IP address, you don't have to do all this mess. You can just type in the IP address. Hamachi is a service that basically makes an Lobby for any game that support LAN connections.

Except Check Vs Mates direct connection hense the reason for using LogMeinHamachi lol
Can you not just forward your ports?
