Sanctum 2

Where'd the framerate go?
Must have left it at Brightholme...

But seriously,i played this game back in 2014-2015 up until i hit lvl 30,and then i left for a while (my fault, i wasn't into multiplayer lobbies back then, and as a result i ended up crashing into a level curve as a solo queuer).
But the gameplay and the graphics (and Sweet's REX <3 ) really stuck into my mind. I wanted to come back,i needed to come back.
And so today i downloaded the game, and as soon as i launched it....i got welcomed into a Sanctum 2 gallery slideshow!!

What happened to the framerate? It's constantly under 25 fps on the main menu, and constantly under 10 in the level selection screen AND in the level world! Wut!?

To be honest,i think it's something wrong with my computer,i can feel it! i KNOW it! But i don't know what! The only thing i know is i first played this on a 8 year old Toshiba with a Nvidia 315m and,on screen resolution with the lowest settings,i could get 30 to 45 fps.
Now i'm on a HP Pavilion (ab214nl) with a Nvidia gt940m (i know, those are not laptops you play games with,it's what i could afford :'( ) and i'm facing this problem. The game specs are the same, and my new laptop has obviously higher specs than my old one,so there MUST be something wrong with either my settings or the UDK,especially considering the fact that no matter the changes in the graphics settings, the framerate STAYS EXACTLY THE SAME (under 25 on the main menu, under 10 on the rest of the game,on all graphics settings and on all resolutions).

I even tried uncapping the frames in the.ini file, but it didn't change a thing,so i just restored it at default values.

I haven't touched Sanctum 2 in years,so i don't know if it's a problem a lot of people are having or if it's just me. All i know is i want some of dat Sweet action, and i can't have it! :( my baby!!

I'm hoping for some help from the Sky(e), and i'm available in case infos about my pc spec are needed.

Well, the most obvious thing that comes to mind when I see "laptop", "video game" and "low fps" in one sentence would be to make sure you're running S2 using your 940m, and not your on-board graphics (most likely Intel HD graphics).

I know for a fact the game runs fine on my i7-5500U/930m laptop, so specs are 100% not the issue.

Oh,that could definitely be it. I'll have to check on how to run it on my graphics card (i have an i7 5500U as well).
As i am a total noob when it comes to these kinda settings, would it be a hard thing to do?

Go to nvidia control panel -> 3d settings, you should be able to work it out from there.

Problem solved, woohoo! It was exactly like you said,i set in on my gpu with high performance settings and now it runs beautifully! Thank you so much!

Guess i should learn about things thou,i mean now that i solved the problem,it sounds like it was but a stupidly easy check i should have done before posting anything. Anyway, thanks again! :steamhappy:
