Progress not saving (linux)

Played for a bit this morning, did a few levels.... reopened it this afternoon and everything is reset (player name says "no name" on the save slot), put my name in again, and selected player slot one as before... completed the first few levels, restarted game, and progress is reset again?

Any help would be great, enjoyed playing this so far. Any other users report this prolbem or is it just me?

EDIT: I hadn't restarted steam since purchasing/installing it, just tried that now and seems to have fixed it (got my save back!) ignore this post.
