Game is oddly stuck at the title screen
I'm having an odd issue here.

My game launches and all, but this is what comes up: http://cloud-2.steampowered.com/ugc/848075207614744766/CCE177FCE50A64EB6FA909C7B3AC224A383AC63E/

The camera doesn't move at all. I can hear the ambient sounds, but there's no music. I can move the mouse over the button which expands the cursor, but nothing happens when I click the button: http://cloud-2.steampowered.com/ugc/848075207614746240/5C1866FC78D029ED50A5878C8A293D95E7BAF202/

I can't bring up the exit menu. I have to close the game from the task manager.

I've tried restarting Steam, reinstalling the game and verifying it.

Can anyone help?

Edit: I'm having the same problem as this user:

It's been a while now, I hope Cipher Prime still checks this forum from time to time. I'd also like to know if anyone else is currently having this problem.

I'm still trying to find a solution for this. If anyone has solved the problem, please let the rest of us know. Thanks a lot.

Sorry about the delayed response. Which platform are you running this on? Wondering if it's a Linux related issue. If that's not the case, try right-clicking Splice in your Library to bring up the drop-down options menu and select Properties. Then select the Local Files tab and click "Verify Integrity of Game Chache..."

If there's a corrupt asset file in there, that process should fix it.

I'm running Windows 7 64-bit. Verifying the game does nothing, it says everything is fine. Reinstalling the game doesn't work either.

Hmm... okay. This one's a long shot. Try clearing the game's save data by going into game and at the broken title screen press the CTRL+Shift+DEL key combo. Then exit the game by pressing ALT+F4 and run it again.

Doubt that'll fix it but it's worth a try. I've seen the same effect in broken builds, but the one that's on Steam should be fine. Unless you somehow have an older build and the client just isn't pulling an update. I'll keep poking around on my end to see if we can repro it. Thanks for the feedback.

Ctrl + shift + del you say? Nothing really happens, I'm not sure if anything is supposed to indicate that I've done it correctly, but unfortunately, no, it didn't fix the problem.
I'm pretty sure the game is up to date, Steam tells me so.
If these saves are stored locally somewhere, perhaps someone could upload theirs and I could perhaps implement it and overwrite the Steam Cloud save, if that indeed is the cause of the problem.

There's no confirmation on the key combo. It just clears and resets the progress for the game. It was a long shot. Did you buy Splice directly through Steam? Or did you pick it up via Humble Bundle. Wondering how the non-steam version of Splice works on your system.

I bought it on Steam a long time ago. I've played it before, but this problem occured recently after I decided to reinstall it.

Are you guys running it windowed? The one time I ran it windowed it was flipped and mirrored for some reason, but it runs fine fullscreen (win 7 64 bit). Try running fullscreen.

nope, running it fullscreen. was not flipped, was stretched like the pic OP posted.

Sorry to revive this topic but i had exactly the same problem and no found solution on internet or forums before and it seems i've just found a solution (it worked for me anyway).

--> steam cloud was desactivated for me. I don't remember how this idea comes to me but i simply activated steam cloud, then launched the game and... it work !
It seems you can re-desactivate steam cloud after launching the game once.

I hope it will help some people !

Thanks Rastapouet, I found your solution worked on OS X. I activated steam cloud, ran the game and it was fun. I was able to deactivate the steam cloud afterwards and the game still worked. Thanks!
