Problems that are likely never to be fixed due to the fact they are related to the game engine (I hope they are fixed): the longer a battle lasts, the laggier your battle will get. This really isn't a problem, but if you really like multiplayer, there never will be online multiplayer. Not everyone has a huge computer screen (or tv screen) to do local multiplayer.
I've had fun despite these things, it's up to you whether you decide to buy it or not.
Keep in mind this game isn't finished yet.
I for one am a sucker for this kind of freedom to build and form whatever I can afford with my gold.
Other than the mentioned quabbles its a fun game to mess around in, I'd just wait for the inevitable sale, unless your made of $$$ and can afford the price for a game you just screw around in ala Garry's Mod.
First thing to come to mind is Minecraft. I remember buying that game for 20 bucks when it was still beta, back when a bow was able to fire like a machine gun and when the only thing you could plant and harvest was wheat.
Now you can do all sorts of stuff in that game. You can build a farm with animals and harvest all kinds of crops, and now with villages full of villagers with deep pockets, you can sell your produce to them and use the money to buy whatever you need, rather than going through the trouble of mining. Not that mining isn't fun, but the fact that you can enjoy the game in more than one way with nearly no limitations truely makes it a great sandbox game.
If Minecraft could reach such a fine level of greatness, so could Cortex Command.
Minecraft was about $14 back in beta. Also, the Cortex Command devs now consider this to be a complete game with the release to Steam. However, I believe Data said that he plans to polish it a little bit more before moving on to their other games.
Well, he wouldn't inform you ingame that there were still items that needed polishing if he believed the game was perfect as it is. Empire Earth 3, on the other hand, is what some people think Cortex Command is: A game that claims it's complete, despite all the clear as day bugs and game breakers, among countless other flaws that really stand out. Compaired to EE3, CC is at least further tested than that failed RTS... Not that I don't enjoy it.
Also, when I got my minecraft, it was 20 bucks at the time. I guess you got yours when it was far, far younger. Or maybe it was 14 bucks? I can't recall, it's been a long time ago when I got it.
It's a really fun game with a massive modding community.
The game on it's own is awesome but once you start installing mods it really becomes incredible.
Now, about the gameplay... i really recommend this, game, no, I insist you should buy this if you:
-Enjoy mods, and beeing able to play mods or scenarios crated by community is a big pro for the game for you. Atm there is no Workshop, but the mods for CC are easy to install and to create.
-Prefer Gmodesque sandbox play where you desire to do anything you like. Seriously, this game is booring without creativity!
Wait for a sale, there is hope the game gets an update or two before then.
You're better off just downloading the earlier versions.
but you get frustrated the longer you play it.
i dont think you will regret buying this game in the state that its in right now.
it keeps getting better
i'm waiting for online multiplayer! omg that will be the shizney!!
