Cortex Command is complete?!
So says the dev, anyway. Seems like everybody here has agreed it is still a work in progress but here are his own words:

"While still in high school (”gymnasiet”) back in Sweden, I vowed to myself to make a game I wanted to play and that I would be proud to call a complete product.

Today, after eleven+ years (I just turned 30) and the help of some extremely talented collaborators, I have fulfilled that vow! Yes, Cortex Command 1.0 is now available"

Check it out for yourself:

Hardly complete. Fix this game before charging people $20... I feel scammed..

It's admirable :)

but... i think, the dev either:

A) wants to finally move on from CC and this is his way of calling it quits.
B) genuinely lost perspective on his work and made the statement which OP quotes.
C) made up a nice marketing blurb to call it 1.0 & subsequently make a buck on Steam.
D) all of the above.
E) none of the above and i just don't understand excellency when i see it.

I still hope he patches it to completion.

I have seen the blind supporters say "nobody ever said it was complete" a dozen times, and I believed them. I am pretty sure they meant it, too, and didn't know about this, but here it is, in all it's glory. A finished product. Enjoy

if you read his twitter hes still bugfixing the game. including the bugs that stop some scenarios from working and fixing the gold digging AI.

It's become a hobby of mine on it's own to check the CCData twitter daily *laughs*
If anything, i AM a CC fan.

Yeah, I heard about his twitter. Not interested in visiting it. This is just a tidbit of information to shed some light on the developer and his opinion of the game. If you like to play it, that's great, enjoy. But I really think it is unreasonable to tell people to just wait and it will get better. Maybe it will, but there is not really much reason to expect signifigant improvement.
The twitter feed is literally scrolling along the top of the page.
It is still listed as a work in progress on the normal buy page as well, I think data is ready to call it mostly finished content wise, but is aware that a lot of bug fixes are required.
Still should of been held off of release for a while anyways

Markus Persson would say that the authors of the game deserve a chance to fix and immprove their game, and also would say they should rethink the price and actually inform people about the state of game. Or something like that.

Yes, I'm sure those hours I spent playing Minecraft qualify me as capable of thinking like Notch.

With all due respect, I disagree. If Notch wants to voice his opinion here he is able. It's not like he asked what Ben Franklin would say. It is every bit as possible that Notch would be a bit embarrased for indie game developers by the poor way this dev has represented himself. We won't know unless/until he chooses to speak on the subject and none of us should take it upon ourselves to speak for him.

You can if you want. FAR better than speaking for him.

Although, even as respected as he is, I don't see what difference any answer he gave would make,
Hypaiva Oct 8, 2012 @ 12:21pm
the game is at finished state for the story mode NOT the whole dam game. he is probably keep fixing bugs and add rarly new conetent. plus i have found barly any bugs anly things i found he could improve is a.i thats it. u guys are probably fusing of this because ur not used to the game mechanics and thinking the game is broken or just keep asking for more content.
