I'm extremely glad for the people complaining on the forum
I saw this game come up on steam, and was intrigued by the concept. I loved terraria, and this seemed like it could be similar.

However, when I learned of the extreme lack of development in the last couple years, the numerous bugs and glitches and broken modes and terrible controls, I decided not to buy.

Thank you everyone who bought the game, is ♥♥♥♥ed off, and complaining about it. The forums have done their job.

Some people like it as it is. Try the demo. As long as you know what you are getting into you can make an informed decision.

You have to take any forum with a grain of salt, many of the people here are those who have issues, while many who enjoy the game, with few or manageable problems don't bother dropping by.
It's nothing like terraria BTW.
Lets get a few things straight
A) all game modes work fine for pretty much everyone,

B)The controls take getting used to, but are otherwise fine, a lot of people try to just walk around rather than using the jetpack to zip around the level quite quickly.

C) Development progress ramped up rapidly since B24(respectively speaking, still kind of slow) and since the big 1.0 there have been multiple twitter notations of bug fixes/ content additions per day. It was pretty much dead for a while before B24 though.

Now the game is buggy for some and it's worth closer to 15$ IMO but I recommend you do a little more research and look up some gameplay and if you want it but are a little bit on the fence, then just wait until the price drops and a few patches are released

Just for completeness, B24 was almost 2 years ago. V1.0 = B28. There is a flaw in the design that causes a slowdown the longer a battle goes on that I don't think can be fixed. Just play the demo and don't expect more than that. If you like it, good for you. Don't buy it and hope for the best.

I should have mentioned the slow down thing, but battles rarely last long enough for it to be an issue for me, it can get really bad on endless skirmish defense.

I'm not seeing a demo listed on steam or on the website. I may be missing it, but it isn't in an obvious location.

Not on Steam atm, you gotta get it from dev website. Shouldn't be hard to find.

You can download this and play build 23, you only get 6 minutes and the AI is worse, but it should inform you on the controls and how buggy it will be on your computer (new ones have cropped up and old ones have died but it'll help)
Also, way less content
EDIT: friendly fire is also possible in this build, so watch out

I really appreciate the effort, but the simple fact is that because of not wanting to support the developer, even if I wanted to play this game, I'd have no reason to buy it.

There's a number of reasons I won't buy a game. GFWL is one reason, terrible quality and greedy devs is another one. Alternative options to play the game usually prevent you from playing multiplayer, which is not a loss in this situation.

i can't even start the game, the mouse doesn't work, and i can use the keyboard to move the cursor, but there's no way to select anything, so i can't even try the game.

No, if he doesn't feel the dev deserves his money then it's his choice.
