Diggers Die/Instant Death Terrain
One of the most annoying bugs in the game, especially the more time and money is put into trying to find a good gold mine. It makes absolutely no sense. I'm just diggin' along, mining some gold, when all of a sudden my guy goes "SPLAT" and falls apart on the spot into a million pieaces. There arent any wepons, explosives, or shrapnel around to accidentally kill me... just dirt and gold. If I send in another guy to where my last guy died to pick up his digger he also gets the same instant-death treatment, making that one area of the map untraversable for the rest of the playthrough. SO. FRUSTRATING.

Did I mention I love this game? I do, which is why I'm posting this in hope it gets fixed.

I just ran into this myself. Also encountered it when manually controlling two of my soldiers (dummy) and trying to pick up some dropped guns on a downward slope.

To avoid this dont use (ronin) shovels as if you hit a friendly they will hurt. To avoid terrain death make a huge crater not a tiny holes.

It doesnt matter if you make small tunnels or huge craters, instant/random terrain death can happen anytime, anywhere. But dont worry, it's coming up on a year now and the dev still hasnt addressed this issue.

Dikk Justice, I unserstand you're angry at the dev, but that doesn't mean you can just go around making up thigns to smear dev.
The thing is, there indeed is a gamebreaking bug, and it seems it happens close to a specific location, that is, the map seam. It's a really old game bug, and altrough they've been trying to figure out what's wrong there for ages, it still remains there. my advice would be trying to remember in which area your units die when mining or anything, and try to avoid it.

Will you just listen to yourself? Doesnt matter if Im angry or not, although a little bit of anger may be justified. How am I "smearing" the dev with made up things if this (and other) game-breaking bugs do indeed exist? Not only that but theyve been around since day 1 and still havent been fixed? You yourself admit to these facts.... *smacks myself in the forehead dumbfounded* you condtradict yourself, sir.
And try to remember where not to walk on maps so that I dont instant-death? Omg, dude. Quit being just a fan-boy and recognize it's the dev's responsibility to fix this bug.

I do aknowledge this bug is a major gamebreaking issue that should be fixed, thank you very much. Still, there are such things as extremely hard to replicate bugs.

Random death bug was known *before* launch and he /still/ decided to release. It doesn't matter if it's "hard to replicate". It doesn't matter is it's a single person dev team. etc. (Note: There are other (to put it mildly) severe issues as well.)

These excuses are all moot points. The only thing that matters is that he shipped the game knowing that there was game breaking bugs in it... and they still aren't addressed.

For the record my bugs are: fonts don't scale, it crashes when I try to go fullscreen, and I can't use my mouse. Every single one of these issues are exceedingly basic. In fact, they are tutorials for many game libraries. So, if anything, these bugs show that the dev is rather incompetent. I would say shockingly so.
