You can use a programe that lets someone else see your screen, I cant rember the name of it tho, It seems like a default windows 7 programe, Search around on the data realms fourms :s sorry, But it is essentially hamachi just compatiable with CC.

Most of the screen sharing applications that I have tried seem to do poorly with any kind of graphics/games. Also, there is the added problem of each player potentially wanting their own keyboard and mouse (not fighting for control of the one mouse and keyboard, even in virtual logins). In addition, it would be nice to have a full screen per player, and be able to keep your stuff and movements hidden from your enemy.
As it seems that this game is still somewhat in development(?) I sincerely hope that lan support is added at a later date, but I can also understand the difficulty and complexity of adding it, from a programming perspective. Perhaps with enough requests, it may be added in the future, but it would most definitely make this awesome game even more exciting to play with friends.

It would be really cool to see online multiplayer in Cortex Command, but I just don't think it's possible. It would be really hard on the system to judge the physics of each and every unit, as well as balancing multiple things and making them work.

I was thinking there could be some form of mission where two units are controlled at once, each one a different player, and it would be like a two-man-army thing :P.

Not really, online multiplayer wouldn't be that much different at all in comparison to single player when it comes to the amount of actions that need to be done by the computer. Everything that the game does now in singeplayer would simply be done by a server, or alternatively, some of the calculations would be done by our computer and then the result would be sent to the server, so on and so forth. Point is, it is entirely possible.
I think I remember something about online being teased in the Dev Log years back. This may just have been a mod or proof of concept though.
just scrounged the forums and found this;[forums.datarealms.com] a proof of concept beta for build 23 or so. No updates for the last 2 years though.
