Misguided people.
To those of you who are complaining. This was a part time hobby by a swedish high-schooler that took 11 years to make. He didn't focus all his time on the game. He has a job, and is married. You can see that his life comes first, and his game second. Sure, there are some problems with the game, and that is to be expected of any game. But this game states that it is still in an alpha-state. This game cannot get worse. It can only get better. I do agree that there is a learning curve, but once you hurdle that, you will definitely enjoy the game.

People who are complaining: This game is obviously not meant for everyone. This game WILL get better. I have high hopes for it, and frankly, it already is doing well. If you do not feel like shelling out the cash for it yet, that is alright. You can join the bandwagon at a later date.

Yes i'd say a lot of the people complaining right now have indeed been misguided, you're right on that. Infact i complain just because of that. I wouldnt have bought this game for 17 euros if i was informed by Steam about it's beta status beforehand. I dont really care about the developer and his personal situation.

We spent money for a finished product, ***advertised as such***,
the product is anything but finished, its unoptimized, bug ridden and incomplete.
If i cant get my money back, i will atleast vent steam (pun intended) and make others aware.

Those excuses are all fine and dandy but now the game's in the big leagues now: on Steam, as a purchasable product. And the store page does not make it clear that it is unfinished.
data010  [desenvolvedor(a)] 1/out/2012 às 17:41
It's been a purchasable product for almost five years now (for $18).. tens of thousands of people have happily bought it directly from us (http://cortexcommand.com ) in MUCH rougher state than it is now, and we've only had a handful of refund requests over this time period. I agree the steam page should include more of a clear disclaimer about the still unpolished state of the game, as our own site does. I've asked Valve to add it; it's in their hands now.
KillaGram 1/out/2012 às 17:53
By being on steam, this gives the producer much more ability for feedback. Being on steam actually helps the game improve.
NIL0S 1/out/2012 às 17:59
It's nice the misinformation issue is being atleast acknowledged... I'm not really hoping for refund although i requested one, its more a matter of principle.

Seeing you trying to rectify the disclaimer part on Steam store boosts some of my confidence in Data Realms. Please continue working on the game, what works IS good and ultimately also what drew me in.

With Greenlight being in its infant shoes and many more beta phase projects bound to pop up all over Steam, one would think Valve should have a better idea on how to handle these sort of sales.
KillaGram 1/out/2012 às 18:01
That is the beauty of Greenlight. It exposes the game to critisism, and allows the game to grow in many aspects.
NIL0S 1/out/2012 às 18:07
Yet when you make an investment on, say, Kickstarter, the whole deal is a lot clearer than if you buy a license for a game that is still in beta on Steam. How this gets handled is important also for the future, i want to be aware if i'm simply buying a finished product, or INTO a concept!
KillaGram 1/out/2012 às 18:17
Yes, I agree with you NIL0S. Products should be listed as such before, or when they are released to the public. Merely stating that the game was in a beta, or alpha state would suffice.

Example:

=======GREENLIGHT-GAME=======
Complete: [_]
Beta: [_]
Alpha: [X]
NIL0S 1/out/2012 às 18:20
Agreed. Not just Greenlight though... I just mentioned that because of selling games that are "work in progress".

Can I have a refund then? I'll buy this game when it's done. You can give refunds, right?

Reading through the forums and seeing the experiences of people who have invested a large amount of time in the game, it seems that not only is it unfinished, but fundimentally flawed. Isn't it true that the longer you play a game the slower it gets? And the workaround is to just play the game at minimum resolutions? And this is due to the nature of the engine and not likely to be changed?
FooDoDaddy 1/out/2012 às 19:18
I've only plyed and old demo and it seems to work good enough for me. I still think the price is a tad high for a beta state, but I had plenty of fun with the timed demo game. I wanted to try it seeing all the bad comments. Anyway seems fine to me. Might just buy it tomorrow.

if Serious Samuel did not start this thread by sucking your ♥♥♥♥ data010 you would never of posted in this thread.....funny
He has replyed in several of these threats that i have seen, just sayin.
As for me I quite like this game, it's not that polished but I can live with that considering its a great game otherwise, I agree too steam should have mentioned that its not polished but to me its not worth asking for money back or even complaining about, after all I've paid alot more for some AAA games and had the same issue (some of those games are on steam too by the way)

Personally, i felt this way at the start didnt like it that much, but that is when i was ♥♥♥♥ AT IT, Now that i have played it and got the feel for the controls IT IS AMAZING i notice there are a few bugs like crawling isnt the best but i understand that a bugs can be patched, and games do get better.

If you feel like its hard to play with a keyboard i recommend triyng with a Controller, im currently using the Xbox 360 controller for Windows and it has make the game Alot more enjoyable but if that isnt an option i am also prity good with the keyboard, i hope people who read this dont decide not to buy the game because of the ample people complaining, they are complaioning because they only see the 'bugs' but havnt accually played the game.

I recommend this to ALL my friends and i say the good and the bad.
