...compared to other games on same category, it should cost 10 tops, both the developer and the players know the current state of deveopment, it's clearly not version 1.0, look at FTL for example. I really love the game concept and visuals and want to buy it, but 17$ for a alpha quality game posing as 1.0?
i bought this game like 4 years ago and i've got hundreds of hours of fun out of it since then. considering a 12 hour long singleplayer game costs $50-60, i would have easily payed 20 for it back then or even right now if i didn't already own it
i'm a great fan of minecraft, and other sandbox games.
can you help me decide, should i buy this game? does it worth the trouble... and $
or just wait for next BIG update...
or just wait for starbound release in 20 years from now
Mods can help extend the life of the game but the reality is this game sees real development only every 2-3 years and there isn't much added. It's like a sandbox that's only about 1/3 full and a cat uses a corner as its litterbox.
$20 is hardly a price to cringe at, and believe it or not it HAS benefited from all those years in production. Don't cheat yourselves into thinking otherwise.
As for the topic of buying now of holding, I'm not sure what you'd achieve by buying later. As a little analogy, do you think Minecraft would have held interest for so many people so long if there hadn't been new features and content cropping up all the while? I myself regret that I didn't get into Minecraft mods earlier, as many of the more fantastic ones have since died as the versions rolled on, and the same goes for Cortex Command.
The only thing I'm really looking forward to that's not yet implemented is Steam Workshop support, but that's hardly a reason to wait; Why not become familiar with the vanilla in the meantime?! :D
Thanks for the remarks, After watching youtube videos for the last hour, i'm IN!
It's seems solid enough for my taste.
And sorry if i insulted the developer.
It's buying time!
Edit: OP I believe you made the right choice.Have fun with Cortex Command as we do!
also please respond if you liked the game.
You poor bastard.
Yeah, in some other post he already complained that he spent an hour trying to make the game work unsuccessfully.
Shoulda listened to his instincts, eh?
the situation is:
Laptop wize:
i just can't make it work on my laptop! vis screen res - if i set in game the same res 1366x786 after restart it pops up that card res not supported and it setsback to vga640, and if i try to make it alt-enter full screen it does not work, start to flash pink, and after alt tab, the mouse is not working either. it's a shame couse i bought it to play on my laptop.
PC wise:
it works, after playing the tutorial: game is fun, i like it. yes the controls are crappy, and there are tons of issues, but overall, it's playable, and you have to invest some time to play, but it can be done and very rewarding.
re screen issues, these are issues that i though have ended in the `90s, i bought a lot of indie games and never had screen issues on my laptop, so COMEON!!!!
but i stil give this game a chance to fix those issue, cause it exactly the game i would love to play.
Get ready to wait around 5 or 6 years for the lazy, unprofessional, childish, meme-spouting dev to fix these errors.
Dev's should understand software quality is not Fascism.
but lets give those guys a slack, wait and see if they can evolve to the next lvl of updates and bugfix release. i hope i will be able to run this game on my laptop in the following days.
Hail Notch.
