This game is amazing
Except the parts that are trash

1. Needs better optimization

2. Needs removal of brain combat, make the combat more RTS, each unit has a soul, commander fights own battles.

3. Allow multiple brains during each scene

4. Add random encounters in scenes, such as extra actor or anomolous entities (Giant Worms, Aliens, Comets, Etc)

5. Expand Upon the meta game, this ♥♥♥♥ is the only reason to play this game and it doesn't have enough attention, there NEEDS to be more free roam in this game, less about the brain, and just more about playing.

6. Expand upon the lua, add Hunger, Thirst, etc, Survival.

7. Figure out water tiles. Just code in some watery overlay , doesnt this game engine support translucent graphic overlays? no, serious question, does it?

8. Add support for vehicles

9. If youre gonna charge 19.99 for a game like this, you NEED to do more.

10. Add more support for modders, most times you're figuring every little thing out, give em complex examples, so people can figure out stuff, add support for melee and -animation lua scripts, so the game can look better,.

11. Reduce tracer round effects, they're laggy, unnecessary most of the time and are over done, if you remove them, bullets look and feel better, and then increase RPM, and bullet damage.

12. Make armor more useful for troops, instead of either Overpowering, or useless.

13. Increase actor movement speed.

14. Add more interesting combat areas, such as low gravity moon bases, or giant maps with like a space station underattacking by aliens, with giant engines, get creative, you shouldnt leave it all up to the gamers.

15. Focus on the fun, not on the burn. Seriously, why is this game designed like "kill the brain!" it should be designed on "crazy sprite exploration with cool stuff omg RPG"

16. Make it more like a sandbox, not some ♥♥♥♥ty rush to kill mode, LET US BUILD DURING SCENES.

17. Just do it - Nike

Hmmm, quite some of submitted ideas, actually, can be solved with mods!
Tryed checking out Data Realms fan forums? Mod is not same as something existing in vanilla game, I know, but this game was sicne begining planned as something easy to mod, and there are tons of various mods that will sake your apetite for destruction (And construction! But mostly destruction...) out there!

I'm just waiting for the multi core/multi threading support, and online multiplayer to come whenever it does. Not taking full advantage of multi threading/multi core for this game would be foolish, and probably anger a lot of gamers along with it, do what the fans like, and you'll start to see sales and the fan base boost big time. I'm not the one doing the coding, but as a programmer I know that optimization is the entire key to making a game run faster, if it requires backtracking and re-coding the entire engine to work with it, so be it. It took me about 4 or 5 different tries and versions in order to get my engine to the point where it got, I'm not data, so I don't know how many revisions the first engine went through, but I do know the more times you revise, the more times you optimize, the sleeker, the faster, and the better the engine gets. Just some friendly advice from a fellow developer.

They've already announced there won't be online multiplayer. They can't code it into the game without starting from scratch.

I personally want improved AI. A lighting system would be neat too, but it'd be a ♥♥♥♥load of work for what few developers we have. My PC would probably explode anyway.

Aye, it could certainly run better. But when you find out why and how the game runs choppy at times, the developmental challenges of improving the performance of this handmade engine & game becomes clear and understandable.

2. Needs removal of brain combat, make the combat more RTS, each unit has a soul, commander fights own battles.
In my opinion, the "brain combat" is very interesting and a refreshing take on the genre. It also allows for more interesting, less-generic backstory and of course those tense brain/wave defense gamemodes. A method for modders to temporarily disable such functionality (such as for a custom mission or something) would be very nice, though -- if it doesn't exist already.

4. Add random encounters in scenes, such as extra actor or anomolous entities (Giant Worms, Aliens, Comets, Etc)
That's a wonderful idea! I think it would be pretty cool to happen to find indigenous peoples on a planet, or a hidden civilization that's spent most of its timeline underground.

6. Expand upon the lua, add Hunger, Thirst, etc, Survival.
While that could be neat, I personally don't feel it would fit in with the game. Maybe a modder can script up a prototype for the community to take care of and enjoy?

7. Figure out water tiles. Just code in some watery overlay , doesnt this game engine support translucent graphic overlays? no, serious question, does it?
At the current state of the game, water would be very laggy or non-fluid like, and a simple overlay would be buggy.

8. Add support for vehicles
There are actually some mods which add vehicles. Experimental Dummy Vehicles(probably got the name wrong) adds a hover tank, an APC and a few dropships among other things.

9. If youre gonna charge 19.99 for a game like this, you NEED to do more.
I'm sure the developer(s) understand that, but keep in mind it's only one or two guys that are working on the base game itself. The CC community knows all too well the sluggish pace of development for their beloved game.

11. Reduce tracer round effects, they're laggy, unnecessary most of the time and are over done, if you remove them, bullets look and feel better, and then increase RPM, and bullet damage.
Tracers don't affect performance as much as you think they do. The other stuff can be modified by anybody with a text editor and the will to explore.

15. Focus on the fun, not on the burn. Seriously, why is this game designed like "kill the brain!" it should be designed on "crazy sprite exploration with cool stuff omg RPG"
I like CC how it is. An RPG would be terrible imo(a mod already adds such functionality anyway), and if all that stuff is what you want then maybe you should buy terraria or wait for starbound.

16. Make it more like a sandbox, not some ♥♥♥♥♥♥ rush to kill mode, LET US BUILD DURING SCENES.
Some gamemods let you do this, I believe. The game -IS- a sandbox/RTS/tactical shooter hybrid, you know.

Instead of moaning about it not being like a sandbox, why don't you contribute to the community by making scenes and missions?

Hmmm, actually I like some of ideas too. Ones making the game more RPGish / Survivalish really could be turned into mod, but not added into the game itself. Overall... think you could give more suggestions and how exactly certain result can be achieved, and it will be a great suggestion thread!

Where's the upvote button for this.... We need to find a way to get this to the Dev team

As far as i know dev himself check on every or at least almost every thread here, so I am sure he already checked it.

When you are making such suggestions you're not trying to give feedback, you want the devs to redo the game the way you want it... This game is made to be a protect your brain and destroy the enemy, not explore the world and make dinner. The list from 6-17 is nothing but destroying the game or remaking it. The rest... You are able to get mods which are almost able to do what you request here. I would like to see better optimization but the way the game is programmed, it's not an easy task and the game already has 10 years on it's shoulders. Explore the fan forums and try the mods.

Only things I miss in the game are online multiplayer and the ability to create presets and or buying troops before the battle starts.

+1

And to Valve: I would like to see a thumb up button for comments in the Steam community hubs :).

Threads dude, threads.

I don't know why people keep saying that it's not an easy task, it's as simple as spreading the load between multicore processors, and even if it's not possible for the way he coded it, it would be necessary to remake it so that it runs better on modern machines, instead of getting FPS drops down in the single digits.

You're developing a game and you don't expect revisions to be made? That's the entire point behind software developement you work on something and start over with the knowledge you gained from the last try to make it better, that's just simple how it works. I've been working on an rpg game for 3 years now and every revision has been 10x better than the original. If you're not willing to make such revisions, you shouldn't be selling your game on a massive platform let alone at all.

TL;DR - Dev's need to stop whining about having to "redo" the entire engine.
