I'm veeeeery mixed about this game. I love its combat and the fact you feel as though the fights you are fighting are of something bigger in the level. You aren't the main focus. The ship design is awesome and the various weaponry are amazing. The one big flaw with this game, and I cannot stress tis enough, is its controls. It is very difficult to play this game with keyboard and mouse. Where does tis shine? The last level!
Strike Suit Zero is an amazing open space dogfighting game. There is no denying this. However, when the last level takes EVERYTHING you have been doing in the former 12 levels (The very open space for movement and maneuvers) and throws it away. Instead, you get one of those precision and closed space levels where your ship is carefully navigating the relics NARROW, LINEAR spaces. Not the open place you have been fighting for all of the game. I would not have minded this if the controls were changed... But they aren't. You play as though you are in that open space. The controls are still either super touchy or not touchy enough in this level.
It simply bad level design. Adding to this is the fact you have 10 MINUTES to complete the level. It sounds like enough, right? Not in this level. The corridors are long and the time getting to the core takes up about half the allotted time, more if you are trying to be careful. Bumping the walls WILL immediately drain your shields. You will die a lot. If this level were different, I would have loved every aspect of this game. However, I cannot beat the last level because everything I did in the former levels meant nothing. This game demanded precision in a game where it is not necesary.
If you want to get this game, I recommend you do it... If it's on sale. If you are on PC, I would recommend Strike Suit Infinity if you want a fun game like this one, but without the story.
