Could someone explain this game to me?
Is it a parody of "Digital - a Love Story" or what? I really enjoyed that story, and I was hoping this would be similar.

Oh, sweet. Might have to give it a try then. Thanks.

No, it's not a parody. In fact, it's a tragedy.

I don't know "Digital - A Love Story", but I suppose it's a visual novel too, so I don't think the gameplay needs to be explained. In this case, you're a space adventurer. Your task is finding an old generation ship where all colonists have died. What happened? You'll have to ask the IAs of the ship and read the logs to know the awful truth, like a detective.

That's the setting. However, if you're asking about the themes instead of the story, you must know that Analogue is an analysis of gender discrimination in Korea between the 14th and 19th centuries. Yes, it's also a science fiction video game. You'll understand once you play the game.

Analogue is a "spiritual successor" to Digital.
So I would imagine if you enjoyed that, you should get on pretty well with this one too.

The main difference between Analogue and Digital is that Analogue is much deeper and much more niche, while Digital has a (comparably) more superficial story with more accessible themes.
joannatruth Nov 30, 2012 @ 5:12pm It's all on there. Plus a free demo. :)

Officially, Analogue takes place in Digital's future.

Wow, I had never even heard of Digital: A Love Story. I was always interested in what exactly happened in this game's past, so definitely going to try that out. :)

They aren't officially linked...but I always like to think that *Emilia is ultimately the ancestor of *Mute.

I haven't actually played Digital, but from what I've heard it is made by the person (and has a sad ending)
It's kind of backwards, huh? The love story has a tragic ending, the tragic hate story has a happy ending...
Well, not ending #3, that one's kind of sad.

It was made by the same developer, and has a few similarites (having to type things in manually at times, AI denoted by a *), but that's pretty much it. Some theorize that it is set in the same universe, but Digital took place in the 80s and this takes place in the far future.
