Plot hole question *spoilers*
Now that a sequel's coming out I want to try to figure out the one thing that bugged me about Hate Story. It never seemed to explain how Hyun-ae turned herself into an AI, which is the whole basis for her being there rather than you just reading diary entries on an empty ship. Was this on one of the couple log entries that I missed, or was it just left out? Either way it seems strange to not be part of the main story.

There was some kind of brain scanner built into/next to her stasis chamber. It's only mentioned in one of the final logs in the *Mute route.

Basically, Hyun-ae's father build a plan B into stasis chamber. Hyun-ae made a copy of *Mute and used the brain scanner to transfer her personality and memories into the copy. Kim Hyun-ae died, and *Hyun-ae was born.

Something going unexplained is not a plot hole, it's just unexplained.

I somewhat doubt that Hyun-ae was trained and in proper state of mind to initiate transfering her mind into the copy. More likely, as suggested by her father's apology for this about to hurt, is that her capsule was designed to detect when she was dying, and then automatically perform the transfer as a last-ditch effort to preserve her as an AI entity.

When Hyun-ae opened the bulkheads, it is true that she laid herself down in her capsule, though that may have been more a poetic effort on her part, intending to die whilst resting on the bed of glass of her broken capsule.
