Concrete info on Legendary Enchant drop probability
I contacted Erik Johnson from Arcen Games via Twitter about the low drop rate of Legendary Enchants in AVWW(1) and how exactly the mechanics work.

The conventional wisdom around forums is that the drop rate increases as one progresses further into the continents. However, this is fundamentally flawed. Once you reach a certain point, the odds never increase. In fact, it really goes from zero probability to 3% probability. Here are the details I got from Erik (who consulted the programming team):

Two things are needed for AVWW legendaries to drop randomly:
1) You have to have picked up enough of that specific type of enchant in the past to bump the internal "quality tier" for that enchant-type up to 5 (which gives items with 4 optional effects).
2) You have to roll a 1, 2, or 3 on a d100 when generating that tier-5 item and it will make all 4 optional effects "elite", which is the definition of "legendary" in the game.

It's also possible to get a legendary through a legendary rarity orb, but I forget how one comes across those.

IIRC "Legendary Rarity Orb" might not be referring to the "Enchants" (that is, those items with achievements) at all, but rather like "epic orbs" etc, these would be for crafting weapons/skills.

In any case, I hope this information will help fellow achievement hunters. Your "luck" won't be any higher on continent 15 than it will on continent 8. Just keep farming enchants and eventually you unlock the opportunity to roll for a legendary, and that opportunity is a 3% chance. I put a suggestion Mantis that they increase the drop rate to 5% or higher after the prerequisite has been met, since anyone who has reached that prerequisite has probably already cleared 3 continents, gotten all story fragments and unlockables, etcetc...

I also put in a duplicate bug report for the Legendary Elven Boots. I saw "tigersfan" said they have no intention of further development on AVWW but that if they DO make updates, that'd be the first thing they fix. With a little community support (as simple as bugging them on Twitter or replying to this very thread!!) it will give them the "oomph" they need to make these tweaks for people who enjoy this, one of their older projects. :)

Wow, thanks for tracking that! I was quickly progressing from continent to continent barely gathering any enchanments. I'll definitely stick to one continent now and see how I do, once I get back to the game.

The daunting task of getting legendary enchantments for achieves is the reason to stop playing. Not fun.

See that, devs? Increase the drop rate! Fix stuff! Make 1.208! There are still people playing your first AVWW! :) :) :)

We may get around to doing another patch of this at some point, but right now, we're up to our ears in our next game.

Good to hear some actual info!

So I will probably just stick to continent 8 and farm everything possible before moving on. But a higher droprate would be MUCH welcome considering the sheer amount of enchants you need. Equipping somethnig in your head slot will, at least, help narrow it down to specific enchantment slots making it a bit 'easier' once you've got most of them
