Should I get this game?
$3 isn't bad, but I could also use that on the other 15+ games on sale right now

It all depends on the type of game experience you're looking for. It's incredibly unique in the realm of platformers. I found it really fun to explore. Some of the game elements feel unrefined, particularly the city-building aspect. The soundtrack by Pablo Vega is also really good - I'd consider dropping down $3 just to listen to that alone. https://arcenmusic.bandcamp.com/album/a-valley-without-wind-vol-1

Bundle Stars also have it on sale, even cheaper: http://www.bundlestars.com/store/a-valley-without-wind-1-2/

Personally, I say "yes". I played the first game for a few hours, and I believe it is well worth the $3. And if you pick up a 4-pack, it's 25% cheaper, still. Then you just need three people to give the game. Or hold on to the extra copies as trade bait once the price has gone back up. I just love getting 4-packs, and then trowing games at my friends...

AVWW is the best rogue-like platformer I know of. And I played many of those. Definitely you need this game. I... "demoed" this game for quite some time and always felt bit guilty for that every time I played it, so when I saw it on bundlestars along with second installment, I bought it in a heartbeat.

I like the first one a lot. Nearly as much as I hated the second one.
It surely isn't the best game ever, but it's well worth the money.

I liked this game a lot for how truly unique it is. The art style is eyebleedingly bad in some instances, which prompted an art revamp that turned into the sequel, Valley 2, which was...kinda terrible, and nothing like this game.

But yeah, other than the graphics being a bit odd/fugly at times, and the gameplay being sort of oddball, I really liked it. :)

I should point out that Valley 2 is actually a decent game, but I wasn't really looking for a strategy game (which Arcen excels at, actually!). The melding of strategy and platformer wasn't really that great of a combination imo, but either way, I'd rather play the first one!

Bionic Dues is their latest entry and is a tactical/roguelike-like game with a light amount of strategy in picking your missions on the world map--also very fun and their best game to date imo! Great if you like blowing up robots, turnbased tactical combat, and customizing characters with loot.

I just bought both games for $3.74 at Green Man Gaming and promptly got my Steam key for both games. I also got 10 cents back on my purchase for using my credit. Installing now and have yet to play. Looks interesting.

First one is better IMO. Both graphics and control (aiming in particular) is better. Though I like how you manage your settlement in second game. If we'd combine settlement management from AVWW2 with control and graphics of AVWW1 we'd get perfect game, I think.

Also from little I played second game, it has some interesting missions as well.
