The Witcher 2 doesn't start on SteamOS

I tested the game on Ubuntu 14:04 (64-bit) and found no way to make it run. Installed SteamOS hoping to improve compatibility, but the problem continues. I click install and to play and nothing happens.

Someone managed to run "The Witcher 2" in SteamOS? How to proceed?

Did You tried Beta version ( Right click on Witcher 2 -> Betas TAB -> choose linux_public_beta ). It should work without a problem.

Second chance is updating nVidia drivers to 340 or 343 series ( ppa:xorg-edgers/ppa ).
I've read that some people witx nVidia 7xx series have problem with starting witcher 2 on 331 nVidia drivers.

Opt into alchemist_beta so that the nvidia driver gets updated to at least 331.38. 331.20 is not compatible and will give you a black screen.

Yes, because there are no current betas. Beta 4 is now the default release
