Runs Slowly

Anyone else having a problem whereby the character just moves really slowly. It's very strange because most of the game seems fine: no choppy sound, menus seem snappy. Otherwise, though, it's like I'm playing in slow motion. I don't have the best gaming machine, but the specs are pretty modest. Doesn't seem like much I can do settings-wise. Any ideas?

Stuttering animation :( The character moves 2-3-4 frames, then short delay etc... It is not so in free version. Win7x64 i5 16gb ram

PS. It was free levels loading :) lol should be some warning

I'm having the same problem, amarriner. It's completely unplayable because it's so slow. I was really excited to play this game, too...

I was having the same issue, slow/stuttering game performance. I figured it was the downloading, glad to see it confirmed here. :)

Having said that...are we downloading ALL of the actual levels themselves whether we want them or not?!? Or is it just a really long list?

I installed three time the game but it's still slow/stuttering. :(

The game d/l 80 free levels on 1st start. That was the reason of slow/stutter in my case. After the downloading finished -- it runs smoothly...

We've not seen the downloading levels cause any slowdown in the game, so I'm sorry to hear that it's causing issues for you. :(

Would everyone who mentioned that they had issues with the slowdown confirm that it's ok once the levels have downloaded?

Are any of you still suffering the slowdown after the levels have downloaded?

Does it happen all the time, or only when you first download them?

I just had the same problems

Game stuttered every 3 seconds, making it unplayable.
The music was running fine, though.

It was on the first run, when it was downloading levels and stuff.
At that time i was updating an mmorpg at background, taking all my bandwidth.

On the second run, it didn't need to download levels and it ran fine.
I can access the community levels just fine.



PS: add a volume slider on sounds! The MUSIC [ON/OFF] Is not enough ...

I'm not surprised it was having issues if you were running something big and complex in the background, Game Maker 8.1 doesn't play very nicely with memory. I'm glad the issue is solved though.

Mine seemed to run a little better last night. Sometimes I felt like I was still getting the slowdown, but other times it seemed like it was running correctly. I'll try again today. How can you tell if levels are downloading or not?

First two seconds of starting up it works fine, then it slow down terribly.

If you're on the main menu, it will tell you if you're download levels. Could those of you experiencing slowdown go back to the main menu to see if you are or not?

I was experiencing the slowdown both before and after the download finished without a discernible increase in performance after completion.

I'm on a decent machine.
Memory usage is all over the place, ranging from 43 megs to 900.
Fraps reports about 22 fps, but visually discernible frames (as opposed to actual frames drawn) appears to be around 2-6 fps.

Hey onebitbeyond I also posted in your Technical suport (home site Forums) I get the issuse too notce no slow down on the main menu but after you get into start game menu it get's slow and when you start to play the game your hit with lag seems to happen alot during jumps and so forth. But deaths and respwanes it also takes a big dip.

I also face random crashs that happen on the main menu and some times when I hit "Play Stealth Bastard" Some are soft crashs (Dosn't lock my Computer) and some are Hard Crash locking up my computer entirely forcing me to hit the restartt button.
