The only real solution would have been for IW to invest in a new engine and stop using the modified Quake III engine they've been using since the first CoD. That, however, would have cost a lot of R&D and time... Something Activision doesn't give any of its developers.
The online is boring because all people care about are their K/D ratios and nothing else. I was in a game of TDM on Containment on the XB1, and EVERYBODY was camping. No, I mean every single player was camping instead of running around looking for kills. It's a little better in the objective modes, but not by much as most people turn those modes into TDM and don't care about capping flags, or anything else.
This is why I play Squad Assault almost exclusively now since A) The bots actually move around the maps, B) Your win/loss counts on the leadboards (vs. Private Match/Wargames) and C) You know the bots are going to "hack", but at least if you die, you die because of this and not because of latency issues and outdated lag compensation since the game is played on your machine using your own assets (models, maps, etc).
Well, Im not the kind of person to lay around and camp with an assault rifle and just wait for people to run past me. But it still doesn't explain why IM the one who's getting killed even before I see them. Almost each time I find someone, I aim and the next second, Im the one who's dead! And this is just in TDM. I haven't had the curage to try any of the other options there is because I know - as you say yourself - people are only thinking of their K/D ratio and if you are 'bad' at the game, most people will be yelling 'noob' at you.
Im not sure if 'Ghost' was my best purchase. But the story is surprisingly good! :)
Yeah, but most friends I have play MW3 and we're usually having a good laugh about it xD But maybe if I gave the online part another chance :)
Well, I find it easier to play CoD on PC but I guess it depends on what you like to play it on.. Plus, I find the games for console alot more expensive! :O
Still, I prefer Ghosts gameplay over BO2/MW3 (as long as not everybody is camping), or when I'm playing Squads with bots. I like the movement/weapons physics better.
And yes! I agree with TOMB8STON3! It's more fun to play with friends than some random strangers who mostly will call people for noobs! Each time my friends are over we always sit with a bottle of Tequila or Vodka and then it's time for hunting peeps! XD
I have never played BO/BO2 I admit that. Nor the "older" versions of Call of Duty. But from what people is telling me, they prefer MW > Ghost.
- Another thing I hate (we all hate hackers except for hackers lol), is people with akimbo! I thank God I haven't met one in Ghost yet if you even can go akimbo! I usually call those peeps for 'Akimboobs' xD - So if you meet me in one of your games and are using akimbo, be really to be called Akimboob! :P
- And about camping: alot of people (in MW3) are complaining about camping. I think it's fine if you're a SNIPER! Camping with an assult rifle is NOT okay! D: A SNIPER is supposted to camp somewhere! XD
That's fine, but I am glad IW took a risk and tried to make Ghosts more of a sim-cade experience than just the same old Quickscoping, Drop shotting game with predictable three-lane maps. Now, that's boring, IMO.
The TTK is actually only about a frame less than BO2, but the new physics system and movement make people think the game is "slow" and this is what promotes camping the most. Again, it's mostly perception because everybody is used to and wants a game like BO2 that feels outdated (IMO), but is easier to play.
- I don't mind them doing something new, but it would have been nice to feel it wasn't slow and all. Not saying it shall be like the previous games being able to quickscope and all that.
I generally prefer PC but BO1/2 are pretty much the only CoD games I can stand to play on PC. IW's games just don't work as well for various reasons. The price issue can vary greatly... I mean you can get a used copy of MW3 on PS3 for like $6, its still $40 on PC.
That is one of the reasons why I don't buy CoD game on Steam. No matter how old they are, they are still expensive and whyI buy them retail :D
