Squad Members
Can anyone tell me who the squad members are? I've wasted 6 squad points on 2 girls with short hair. I want to actually unlock one I will actually use.

You can customize their looks but I'm still unsure what the point even is buying these other members since they start at 1. What's the point?

I guess the point is if you don't want to be the character that you start as you don;t have to be.

No, I figured it out. It's kind of like a team building thing where you unlock these other members and build them up to go into this "squad play". It's basically your team vs. bots or your friends squads. Pretty sure this is what they mean by this. That seems like alot of work to build up multiple members though just to do this.

You unlock new squad members and level them individually. This helps with squad play, and will let you get more squad points. It also allows you to customize all of the equipment for each member of your squad, rather than default equip.

Yeah but spending all these points to build up other members is only good in squad play vs. bots and friends squads, correct? I just think that's a time sink and waste of points.

I'm not sure, I have not played any multiplayer yet because of crashing. Do the squad points and unlocks carry over?
Zeolot Nov 5, 2013 @ 2:30pm
The unlocks don't carry over that's why I think it's odd. I wouldn't want to be unlocking the same thing over and over for each member. I haven't had any problems with the game running in single or multiplayer but I'm not really liking it. I was always into CoD and never Battlefield but this year I'm loving BF4 and I think it's way more fun and easier to understand. This CoD system is confusing to me.

Oh dang, I thought they carried over. Well this sucks...

Don't forget that unlocking another squad member also unlocks more loadout slots. While I am disappointed that unlocks to carry over, it is nice to have a variety of class themes to start out with.

Yeah more loadout slots but the squad member has to start out of lvl 1 all over again. I'd rather just use the points to open up more loadouts from my main. Then they'll probably have the dlc like they did before with a loadout pack for money.

Brofessional: I came across this last night, which was a nice change. A few things though.
1) When you unlock a new squad member you can choose their class and get a few new started weapons to try before you buy.
2) When you start a game and choose your character, there does not seem to be a way to change squad members in-game. So you better change the squad member before a match if you want to utilize the new loadouts.
I think everyone here makes very good points both for, and against the new squad system. I guess we won;t be able to really evaluate it fully until we play around with it more. However, to agree to Zeolot's gripe; you do unlock new things fairly slowly in this game compared to other CoD games. Therefore, by having to start new characters, and at lvl 0, it may take a while to level them up and access new gear. Not to mention that if you get sweet stuff on one character you cannot immediately use it on another.
We will see, I'm going to remain hopeful at the very least.

It's best to think of the squad members as the seperate loadout sets you could by in BLOPS 2. While not exactly the same, they function in a very similar manner.
