Had this collecting dust on my Steam list for months, actually cannot remember where I got it..
Kind of regret it as I have had a blast playing it for the last few days.
Guns of Icarus is a Steam punk themed Airship vs Airship combat game.
You play a member of a 4 man or women crew of an Airship.
Captain/Pilot - Commands the vessel and steers the ship.
Gunner - Makes things go Boom, captains ♥♥♥♥♥.
Engineer - Makes Boomed things Unboomed, captains other ♥♥♥♥♥.
Each class has a selection of specific Perks and Ammo types they can use to be effective.
With three load-outs configurable per class you should be able to have what you need going into battle.
Communication is key here.
There is progression in this game, but you basically only unlock cosmetic items.
Cosmetics ONLY, Dye, Clothing Slot Items, Decals for Ships.
There is a few different Airships to choose from.
Each are balanced differently in Speed, Agility, Firepower and Armour.
Each with a different number of mounting points for guns and different ratings for heavier weapons.
You sit at the helm, steer the wheel, control speed and the altitude of your ship as well as coordinate your team with your plan of attack.. i.e "Preparing to engage TheEnemy1 Starboard Bow, Man the forward guns, focus TheEnemy1", "Rep the engines, going burning full power!"
For the most part the Captain should never leave the wheel.
Listen to Captain, observe and spot enemies with scope, engage where possible with mounted guns.
Gunners should have priority over weapons as engineers should be more interested in repairs and the captain should be on the wheel.
Listen to Captain, observe and spot enemies when not repairing or buffing, if no damage and guns available to use engage enemy to assist with DPS but prioritize repairs unless otherwise told.
There is a good amount of stuff to repair / buff so unlike the gunner you should be running around like an ant whacking the: Armour/Hull, Balloon/Pump, Middle Drive Engine, Port & Starboard Maneuvering Engines and the 4-5 odd guns that are on each ship.
Great fun game, worth its current $15 entry fee.
Communication is key to getting the most out of this game.
Great fun with four friends to man a ship.
Not a huge player base with 800-1400 online at different times.
Average wait time for a game queue is generally not bad.
Not a huge Oceanic player base so you will find yourself on US server but game does ok with rubber banding only seemingly kicking in around 350-400ms latency.
