This game isn't a run and gun every man for himself kind of game.
There are three roles on a ship of four. My wife who isn't a fan of competitive online games love playing engineer because her job is to repair and keep everything working. She doesn't need to worry where the enemy is or if you're being shot so much as is this broken and what should I fix first.
My advice is watch some gameplay videoes and see if you like the style. Here's one that shows off some repairing.

If you hate the very idea of PvP and want nothing to do with it. I wouldn't recommend this game.
Thanks for checking us out
and
Hopefully see you in the skies!
Yeah i'm really not into pvp, sorry :)
But i'll keep this game in mind, and maybe give it a try later.
