It's a crazy fun game, but then again I'm a dev. So won't be shocked if you don't rush out on my opinion.
I find what works best with games is if you watch a let's play.
This is a pretty good one, but there are plenty out there

Hopefully see you in the skies!

Yes, you really should get it, this is truly one of the greatest Multiplayer/co-op games I have ever played. Just as Keyvias says, it is really a crazy fun game. The whole co-op eperience where you seriously need to work with your team mates to win is "One of a kind" for me at least :P

But all in all, this is one of the funnest games I have ever played with my friends. 10 bucks for this game is a steal for me :)

Here is a real question and maybe the dev can answer but is this a game that is a night and day experience with friends? Meaning can I jump into a game and expect people to actually work as a team? All videos I've seen of this game that makes me want to buy it make me hesitant because it is ONLY with their friends.

I never see a person randomly jump into a game and have a blast. If anyone can give me a video or honest opinion about it that would be great.

I would say it's around the same with and without friends, but being with friends always makes something more fun. The community is friendly. Of course, this will vary by each match you join but for the most part people have been laid back and willing to joke around/laugh at themselves for things, which always makes it more enjoyable imo. I'm picky about most online games but this is one of the best I've played!

Thank you that was a much more honest and realistic answer than I was expecting. I like doing videos on Indie games and although I missed the kickstarter I think I can spend 10 bucks and have a fun time with everyone. Of course I am not naive enough to expect everyone to be friendly but I like supporting indie devs and think this will be worth while.

One last question before I buy. There is a VOIP right? I like to talk via mic since it makes things funny
Keyvias May 6, 2013 @ 7:58pm
Yep, when you're in lobby you can press x to talk to the entire lobby. When you're in game X talks to the entire crew and if you're a captain C talks to the other captains.
Those are just the default buttons of course.

See you in the skies!

Thank you hopefully I will see you in game to provide what feedback I can. Can't wait to boot this up and make a video. :)

Thanks for all the help. I bought the game yesterday ;-)

Don't know if this could still help, but I'm speaking as a guy who purchases stuff alone because he doesn't have friends who are as excited as he is about Steam-shopping. I.e. I don't have friends to play with on titles like these. I always jump in alone and hope that the strangers I meet come with the best intentions. My success rate nears 75%. Here's my detailed explanation :

*The game plays in rounds, and in between rounds you can switch ships. Ended up in a ship with an annoying fellow crew? Switch ships. Captain keeps cursing on every little thing crew members do? Switch ships. Heck, switch sides. Not that this is frequently necessary; you very rarely find irritable teammates (so far at least). Most people switch ships/sides out of preference rather than need. The phrase "birds of a feather flock together" really applies here, and it's amusing to watch people switching ships and sides to join a crew that they feel they can work with better. And it's a good thing to do as well, because which ship you're on largely determines your experience as you cruise the skies in Icarus.

Given the above, in any particular room you can always find at least one or two captains who are friendly enough, suits your desired social and gameplay style, and are more than willing to welcome you onboard - explaining the high success rate. Personally, I'm a talker - I look for crews who actively use the mic and engage in conversation as we float above the clouds. So in my opinion, this game's value upgrades itself over triplefold when using a mic & headset/earphones and when finding a crew who uses theirs. But you may think otherwise. Weeks after the sale I bought it on (not this sale, one waay back), I still find crews where we would start discussing how this title was easily one of the best purchases we had in our Steam library, often over the setting sunset as the pilot maneuvers us behind a rock pillar to avoid flak fire.

I'm speaking as a lone gamer who digs online social experiences. Your tastes may differ, but I find this title an invaluable gem. And the community is by far largely helpful, too. It is in their best interest to explain how things work to you (as you're managing the ship they're riding on as well, lol).

An unequivocal yes. Buy this game. Great community of players, a tremendous co-op experience. No hesitation in recomending this.

I and 8 of my friends own this game now it is so much fun to play co-op and every person I have met has been nice and fun to play along side. I think it has to do with the fun factor of the game, everyone is having such a good time that noone acts dickish.
