has anyone played the old version?
I'm writing a review on the game, and I'm looking for some statements on experiences that people had playing both versions and how they differ, improved, etc. to put with the review. Thank you

Hey Lexie, if you're looking for some of our long time players they mostly use our homepage forums, https://gunsoficarus.com/community/forum/
I'm sure if you asked there you'd find someone who can give you a good quote.
Can't wait to read your thoughts!

sorry =o I don't see how it's inappropriate. The reason why I'm asking IS because I've never played the old version. I want to put on my review how the two versions differ coming from people that actually played both versions because I've come accross folks that wouldn't try the new version because they're stuck with whatever impression they had with the old version. Then they proceed to try and tell people to not play the game basing it from their old experience. I want to show people that they have to try it out for themselves and to NOT listen to those people who haven't even tried the new version. I know though for sure that the revamp version now has made the game better (i'm enjoying it myself) and from what I see the game is just going to keep improving

I think you may have misunderstood me, if so sorry for that.

the point is though, it would be more valid if the experiences I write down pertaining that department came from people who've played the old versions longer because updates happen, they would be able to describe their journey as the game improved and evolve. Even if I play it now, I would only, in a sense be able to compare the surface of the old version and I would feel it would be inadequate. Also this way, I can get my facts right as well as properly, when I write about how the new differed from the old as a whole. I want to write about it in a proper way because the game deserves that. Another, there are people who would tell me, what do I know, I just started playing the old version, and the point is to show them, hey look, these are the other veteran players' thoughts so I hope you try the game before you shoot it down ( Believe me I've come across players like that). Seriously though, this shouldn't even be an issue because my job is to not bash the game but to show everyone how awesome it is but I must consider old players with this one too. If you still feel that way then I completely understand and I accept that =)

one more thing to consider is to compar this games you will need to bring one down and it is up to you to deside with one is lower , to me that seem unfare to both games write the review separately and intertwine them.

I've been seeing your point, however you seem to not see mine. Every game has it's ups and down, therefore they must be reviewed properly. The readers deserve that too. Also, there is nothing wrong with showing the hard work the developers made to improve the game and keep making it better. It's my job to review with an open mind, and I always write with respect. It would be a bigger disservice and even an insult to the developers if the hard work they did to improve the game isn't shown. The new Icarus is a revamp of the old, it is basically a rebirth of the old version, it GREW into the awesome game it is now but the old icarus is still part of it. Besides I've always been honest, if I suck at the game I was reviewing, I tell people that I simply suck and do not blame the game for it. I show the devs my review as well. Some of them told me they found it useful because I was able to point out potential problems.

I'm sorry, I don't understand any of your arguments. The developers themselves have encouraged what she is intending to do. They seem to be appreciating it as a service.

It's not so much that she is putting one game or another down, it's that she is highlighting both the good and bad along with how the developers have addressed those pros and cons. Allowing her to further highlight their evolution of development.
