WHAT SHOULD I DO??
Hey guys, im thinking about buying the game, but loads of people said that "it'll take you forever to find a match" "you'll get bored of it really fast". But other people said that the game is amazing and its worth it. I dont really know what to do... Should i buy it or not?

Buy it, if only to meet people in game who are not asshats.
The community is one of the best i have ever seen.

Taking forever to find a match is absolutely untrue. I play in the Asian timezone which regularly has just 4 lobbies, and I still can get into a match within a couple minutes.

As for boredom, that is up to you. I continue to play the game because of the community and the fun in-game moments, not because of the progression system or to unlock cosmetics. If you get bored without some gameplay items to unlock, then this game is going to get boring if it's the only one you play.

Get this game if you want a genuinely special multiplayer game, one of the few that relies 100% on communication and teamwork. Get it if you want a game with a friendly community where people actually treat eachother like people. Get it if you want a game that is easy to learn, even with a small learning curve, that you still won't master after 1000+ hours. Get it if you want a game with a (figuratively) level playing field, where everyone starts with access to every single ship, weapon & tool from the start, and it is up to how you actually use them. Get it if you want to fly on airships with drunk people. Get it if you want a game that filled with dedicated players, not in huge numbers, but guns of icarus is only getting started. Get it if you want something unique.

Hey DeadUndead,

Thanks for checking us out!
Now I'll admit I'm completely bias, I'm a dev, but I'll echo everything here and raise one more point.

We're currently building and finishing up a matchmaking system to quicken finding games (and more balanced games at that.)
Our goal is to cut down on any waiting and get players into the action quicker.

Beyond that, I am constantly humbled by how amazing our community is and how happy they are to teach and play with new members.

If you have any other questions please let me know and I'll do my best to answer them.

Excellent answer.

1. It doesn't take me forever to find a match. Slow times it can take a bit longer, but not only do individual matches last longer than the time I'm usually waiting, but you almost never get just one match out of a lobby you join.
2. It's an amazing game.
3. It's very definitely a game you should look into a fair amount before buying. I'd recommend watching a few gameplay videos from different perspectives before making up your mind.

I can't whole-heartedly say Guns of Icarus is a game that everyone should play. It's great, but it isn't a game that you can pick up and play no matter what you're into.

Communication and teamwork are key elements in a very unique way. It's common for crew and captain to be shouting orders, advice, warnings and "WTF ARE YOU DOING?" at one another constantly throughout a match, and even in that last case, it's not always a bad thing. Except when I'm drunk and being yelled at for backing up into the wall for the 5th time in a single match... then it's probably a bad thing (but at least we were all laughing about it).

Hm. I feel like I end up spending a lot of time sitting in the lobbies, waiting for the ships to fill up. Very often some people then leave after that one match leaving the rest to wait some more for the reinforcements. Maybe it's different when you are more involved and have familiar faces that are more willing to join your games and stick around.

Of course, to us less committed players who hate wasting time lobbies there is always joining in the games in progress.

So after my previous comment, I was playing at a time I don't normally start the game up, and I ended up waiting long enough that I pulled out a book and read a few pages while I was waiting.

Apparently wait times are a bit more inconsistent than my previous experience has suggested. Although, once a lobby starts, the games usually don't have long wait times between them and you'll get a lobby to fill up then see several matches in a row, so that much I'm going to stand by. Even when a few people leave, people are often willing to start with partial crews, because empty slots in a match in progress usually fill up faster than games that are waiting on the lobby screen.

I mean, i only have 1 friend that play this game.... So idk how its going to be

There should be no problem for you to find a clan or more friends ingame. Most of the time I play with randoms and have no real problems with that.

I'll admit that sometimes starting a match can take a while, but I think it's absolutely worth it. There are quite a few dedicated players, and I've made some great friends through this game. That said, if you want to spend a couple hours on it here and there, you can do that too. The learning curve is pretty easy, and I think quite enjoyable.
