Blade dodge takedown - they changed it, and I can't figure it out
When a knife wielding enemy used to attack with the three attack sequence, you would hold Y and pull back, and then let go, and then hold Y and pull back on the second attack and then let go, and then hold Y a third time while pressing back a third time, and you would perform a Blade Dodge Takedown.

Origins seems to have changed it; it just says hold back and Y (meaning the entire three-attack knife wielder sequence you just hold back and Y the whole time).

Well, neither seems to work consistently for me.

What is the trick to this? Did they change it, or am I just reading too much into the 'description'?

They changed it. I played an AC challenge map right before starting this one, the knife takedown is in different directions i.e(I don't use controller) Y + Down, Y+ left, Y + Right will work if you want to do the takedown(obviously letting go between them)

at least that works for me

It's still Y + Down for me.
Yeah, it's exactly the same as the last game for me.

I have noticed no change.

You need to keep your finger on the counter key throughout. Don't release it.

You should be holding it, then any direction at the right time to dodge each strike. You don't have to do go down, left right, you can go down down down, or right right right, or whatever. It doesn't matter.

The timing is a bit tighter and less forgiving than AC was too. I personally have a serious problem with reliably countering the second strike. It really ticks me off, but I'm fully aware that it's my own fault too :)

I play with acontroller so maybe my situation is different, but I hold the analog stick away from the enemy for the entire move, and release the counter key in between strikes. Works fine for me that way.

If you want tod do the takedown, you have to release between pulls.

OP, does anyone else play on the same computer? Ask them if they remapped the controlls if the problem still exists.

its counter + "back away"
its not down or left or rigth
it depends where the camera is

Why I'm confused... see the posts above, everyone seems to have a 'way' to do it, and I cannot consistently do it. The last game I had it mastered.

It used to be 'hold away and Y' then let go of Y and the thumbstick, then 'hold away and Y' for the second strike, then again a third time for the third strike. Basically hold Y and back away three times, letting go between each.

I just can't get that to work now though; half the time it just does the dodge, and not the takedown.

Try doing it with different directions each time. If that doesn't work, did someone remap your keyboard?

They didn't change it. I hold down (or away) the whole time, and press Y for a slightly longer time than normal. Think half a second at most.

No change. I hold down and release the right mouse button in between strikes. Same as before.

Maybe you're not holding the counter button down at the very end?

Maybe, but that sounds like a "Blade Dodge", which on the KB+mouse would be: Press and Hold Direction, press and release counter key.

As compared to A "Blade Dodge Takedown" which is:
Press and Hold Mouse 2, press and release direction key (ANY direction, doesn't matter which)
