Man, this game is horrible. I mean, I simply cannot understand how anyone could give this gamea positive review. People say that the action picks up after the first chapter, but the problem with the game is precisely the action. The combat system is the worst combat system I have ever run across in a game ever. Period. End of discussion. It's a game breaker for me.
Essentially, here is how it works. You spend several seconds trying to target your opponent. Keep in mind that you cannot spam on the attack button because if you tap it more than once too quickly, the attack will break off. You need to have your oppnent targeted, and while you are trying to do that, he's busy kicking your butt. So you finally got him targetted? Now you press the attack button. If you're lucky, you'll be set to the correct attack and actually hit him. If you'[re unlucky, the attack will be broken off, and you have to select a different attack (there are three). So once you finally hit your opponent, you'll have the opportunity to hit the attack button again at just the right instant to get a chain. The problem is, if something happens so that your opponent moves, you have to go back and spend several seconds trying to target him again.
I think changing the combat to dice rolls would have been far superior to this mess. What were the developers thinking? This game is completely broken, and I can guarantee that I won't be buying the sequel. Worst ten bucks I've ever spent. If I had actually spent $30 to $40 on this title, I would be demanding my money back.
People keep saying that the story in this game is good. It might be. I don't play video games for story lines, though. Even so, the voice acting was so horrible, I can't imagine myself actually immersing myself into this world.
Utterly horrible. I give this game a 1 out of 10.
