Is there a decent save editor for the Steam version of The Witcher?
Normally I wouldn't ask, but this game has a really good storyline that is ruined (for me) by the sub-par gameplay. I'd love to be able to just buff up my character and breeze through the game enjoying the story and not worrying about getting stuck, because I'm almost at the point of giving up entirely. Any help would be really appreciated, thanks.

It's not a direct answer to your question - but how and where are you geting stuck?

Also there is a quest guide - look in the witcher folder: /Users/:YOUR USER NAME:/Library/Application Support/Steam/SteamApps/common/The Witcher Enhanced Edition/

the file is called WitcherEE Guide US.pdf

Sub-par gameplay? You sir/madam need to look else where...

I don't see how you could describe this as being sub-par in terms of its gameplay.

I must say, I am quite horrified good sir. Is this game too difficult? I figured I didn't have fun with it for the first two times i started (and quit after about 2 hours) because it was too easy. Easy difficulty is a breeze anyway but I guess there would be trainers and stuff if you really want to make it easier.

But if that is what you want, why don't you just google.... like... you don't even have to try hard and you will find a mod that unlocks abilities and tons of trainers, too. Might even be a savegame editor available somewhere.

Maybe you could try the following mod instead of ruining your own gaming experience by cheating: http://www.moddb.com/mods/full-combat-rebalance1 Supposedly this is a very good mod that changes all of the fighting. Have to admit I haven't tried it yet though.

OFF TOPIC:

One thing I have to agree upon with you though. The fighting system could be way better in it's execution - but its probably just me who has played tons of Dark Souls recently and wishes for a similarly complex and responsive melee system for all these other games that have melee combat in them.

Well I suppose this thread isn't about that ;)

This works, http://www.fileplanet.com/184337/180000/fileinfo/The-Witcher---Infinite-Health-and-Endurance-Mod i just downloaded it earlier, pretty much gives you infinite health and endurance, just copy the OVERRIDE folder into steam/steamapps/common/the witcher/data.
