Steam - Error: Failed to Contact Key Server
I bought this game a while ago and now I'm getting the following error when I try to launch the game:

Steam - Error: Failed to contact key server

I looked into this error and it seems it might mean that Valve has run out of keys for the game, but I don't understand why it's an issue for me since I've already installed the game and played some. I read it might take a few days for Valve to get more keys. Is this problem occurring for me because I didn't register my game with a key at some point? Can I avoid this in the future by doing so? Either way, I'm Witcherless at the moment :-/

This is still happening for me. Is anyone else having trouble playing the Witcher: Enhanced Edition due to a key server error?

I'm having the same issue, but I was able to get the game working by using the code ( -dontforceminreqs) don't forget to put the hyphon before the word. Go to Properties, click set launch options type in the word above Let me know if it works for you.

Finally heard back from Steam with a fix. I followed their instructions and everything is working great now. Thanks, Steam! Here's the fix they sent me.

Please exit Steam and go to the folder called C:\Program Files\Steam\ (this is the default location for a Steam installation - if you set a different installation directory, you will need to browse to it).

Delete all of the files in this folder except:

- Steamapps and Userdata folders

- Steam.exe (this file is listed as an application and features the black and white Steam logo)

Restart your computer.

Then, launch Steam.exe from within the Steam installation folder, and not from a pre-existing shortcut.

With Steam running, re-test the original issue.

Note: This process will not affect your currently installed games.
