The Beast is hard, probably the hardest fight you'll have in the game. Maintain constant Swallow regeneration, attack with no more than 2 hits from your sword and then kite it around in a circle. Rinse, repeat. Or wimp out and use Spectral Oil.

There's an option in the settings to control how many background animals appear. There are monkeys and frogs and stuff everywhere. D:

Certain monsters can inflict a "pain" status on you (Geralt holds his head and sways back and forth a bit like a jackass while everything hits him, gives you a little orange circle in your status bar), it'll be too late to help you now but put talents into attributes that raise your resistance to pain. :3

I find I normally get stunned by the hellhound as soon as the fight starts. Once you have control, use group style to try and kill the barghests and then focus on the boss after they're dead. Abigail will heal you occasionally if you saved her, but otherwise make sure you drank a swallow potion and just run around if your health falls below 50%. It's always seemed a bit luck based to be honest. :/

For me, since the stun always got me, I literally just quicksaved, and used Aard as much as possible, waiting to stun the Beast for an instant kill. Only way I've ever gotten through.

I've been trying this for ages and I can't kill i..tryed the aarad aproch tryed the run back and for aproch tryed the spector oil and no matter what i do the thing and his mate just keep killing me...I hate it when games put super tough fights right at the start with no woring on how to spend XP.....Life is to short for this type of thing and I'm bored with it now, think I'll just uninstall

Man, I got the skill to increase nockdown chance when using the group stance and I tear groups up; people/monsters just go flying

I just used aard to defeat the beast as well :D Single hit kill after it is stunned

Also, I saved Abigail and she helped with healing during the fight. Took me a few times, though..and the closest save was way back a few cutscenes...

Is it just me or does Abigail just die right at the start of the fight? I've tryed focusing on keeping her alive by killing anything that attacks her but nothing works. Within seconds of the fight starting she dies. Also yes this fight is hard. I'll try some of the above but with Abigail alive or not I just die

I just did it. I drank every buff I had (tawney owl, blizzard, and swallow) and used the spectre oil. Used group to kill off everything around Abigail (with the buffs only took two hits) and focused with fast style on The Beast while Abigail healed me.

Guys, alchemy...
Use it.

Effects: this potion grants immunity to the stun and knockdown effects.
Preparation: Willow is made by mixing ingredients providing one measure of
quebrith and two of aether; strong alcohol must be used as a base.
Duration of effects: long-lasting.
Toxicity: high.

Willow augments a witcher's physical coordination and resistance to damage. It
should be taken before a fight during which the witcher risks being knocked
down or stunned.
